Westlake LT tires superior to Goodyear G?

Just ordered our RW36FB, to be be built in December. I was told to expect Westlake G tires, even though the current brochure stated Goodyear.

The reason given was that the Goodyears were not rated high enoug to carry the load at 16,500 lbs and the Westlakes could.

The H rated tires are the optional tires.

I dropped some of the other options I had chosen and picked the Goodyear H tires.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what temperature the tires should run at and at what temperature would you say the tires are overheating? I carry an infrared thermometer with me at all times.

I stand corrected - they were "optional" on mine, some of the bigger ones they were standard. On my 11/16/2012 build sheet, G614 were optional (Standard on 38BR, 40KB,....)

Ironically I carry an infrared thermometer too, and use it at every rest stop, but I'll be darned if I can remember the temps I'm seeing. I mainly look for a bearing, tire, or brake that has a distinctly higher temperature than the other three, but the numbers aren't registering in my brain, sorry.

Atom, that's basically what I do with mine but I thought maybe there is a specific temp that I should be aware of.

My TPMS tells me our Goodyear 614G's are typically in the 110-115ºF range after running up to temp.

The G614s were standard on our FL, sure glad we got them.
They do seem to run a little hotter than Chucks do, our TPMS shows more like 115 to 120 degrees as I remember.
Still have not had our RW weighted yet, that should be interesting.

My G614s will run between 120 and 125 degrees. If memory serves me correctly, the initial stage of tire damage begins around 170-175 degrees.

My TPS temps are generally in the 120-125 range also, but the TV is at 85-95.
