Snake Oil salesman

Man what is going on at Dealerships with the chemical bombardment on new vehicles! I noticed it at the RV dealer the other day, and I got hit from every direction when I got my truck a few months ago. Trying to find the wife a car now and they have signs hanging everywhere about this aftermarket gunk!

Serious- $7000 worth of chemicals to apply to my new truck? Glass hardener? I laughed and said I am buying a pickup! I prefer it to be coated in cow manure and straw to protect the paint!

This stuff wasn't invented yet when we bought our Redwood - is it just me or is this marketing gone viral?

Just wait until you go to the Dentist next time. It seems many business now realize the profitability of upselling additional high GP items to customers...

Upsell is the name of the game !

What is she liking ?!?

Keep her in the ford family and get HER an Explorer sport so you can have fun driving it - great car - better than her Audi Q5 in all respects... and haven't had a hiccup out of it in 30k miles

Ah we were just trying to get her a Fusion AWD to replace the VW cc. She didn't want another SUV because we still have the Expedition.

However, it would seem my European sedan has no place on a Ford lot so we left from the second dealer last night. We will keep what we have.

I have 2 cars that we love......A Subaru Outback and a VW Passat diesel. We have both of these cars in the business and each have their own advantages.

The Subaru is a tank in the snow, gets reasonable MPG and good resale value

The Diesel VW gets 44 mpg at 80 mph and is a blast to drive (my company car)

Within the next few months Ginny will get a new Expedition. She still loves the big SUV.

Ya I do love the cc! It was my pick and with 29K miles it still looks exactly like the pic below when we brought it home. The only drawback is 2WD, but I think we decided to work with it and run it to destruction. It is lightning compared to the 2.0 Fusion, even though the Ford has 25% more horsepower.

We await anxiously for that new Expedition! Ford is making a big mistake letting Chev come out with that sharp new Tahoe first, and still no expected delivery from Ford.

I talked with Woodhouse today about the Expedition and they get them in but they sell as fast as they arrive. I specked one out today for around 64k (Platinum).

The F450 are slow at arriving too because of a shortage of the wheels and tires. One is being delivered tomorrow that was ordered at the beginning of July.

I'm going to the St. Louis area tomorrow to look at the Sport Chassis trucks

Thanks Dave - I didn't know one had actually been produced yet. Lip service we were getting from our local salesman were we wouldn't see them this year.

While in the St Louis area test driving a Sport Chassis, we found a Ford dealer with a 2015 Expedition Limited. We drove it and WOW what a nice car. It's the wrong color for the boss lady but we're definitely getting one very soon. Night and day difference to the 2012 Limited that we have.

Being a deezle 'savant' for a while...
a nice little tdi pulled up next to me while filling up the other day and I got to talking to her...
I asked her if it was new and she said it was 6 years old and had 120k miles!!! looked pristine and she said she easily averages 44mpg with it !She would probably never get rid of it.

of course, she came in after me, filled up, and was gone way before mine filled up guess they have a small tank !

and you do know those can be tuned to make it a reliable rocket ship !

My son got me onto these little beast when I was buying another car for the company. I buy a lot of cars and I've had about every type out there but once I bought this little VW Passat diesel.........it's my favorite car I think. The damn thing is fun to drive.

My son called and asked to borrow it for a small family vacation to NC. Half way down he called and said his wife wanted one (she wouldn't consider it before the trip). The more he pressed the little VW the better the car got MPG and seemed to like it. He said "it's a little car that thinks its a Peterbuilt" . For just under $200 in fuel he went all the way to NC and back (over 2300 miles).

I comfortably get 650 miles on a tank of fuel. I think mine has a 18 gallon tank.

Danny, I really did get the feeling I might be too focused on the AWD on the Fusion and might be downgrading. We would have been sad to get rid of the cc, even though its probably the noisiest car I've ever had. We have some new skins going on it Sat.

Dave, would love to hear your thoughts on the new one! Was the ecoboost all its supposed to be? Is the inside modified quite a bit?

Had a young kid with a TDI try to burn me at lights one day. He did well off the line, but started to fade about 60 mph. Must admit I was surprised he held on for so long.

The 2015 Expedition has A lot more power and pep. The inside is MUCH quieter and with the independent rear suspension it's very smooth. The dash is much better too. The steering now is electric and retracts as you exit the car. We had this on our Toyota Sequoia and really liked it.
