Smell From Washer Connection

For what it's worth. Today my wife dropped something behind the washer/dryer. So I had the adventure of taking out the dryer to fish it out. While the dryer was out I noticed the drain pipe from the washer was not sealed into the black ABS pipe. I'm assuming that is why some have had smells from there. I sealed it with old reliable "tuck tape".

If you don't use your washer, the trap will dry out and the smells from the tank can come up...
(something like that actually happened at our home in the back bedrooms bath that is rarely used - the toilet trap evaporated and whew !!!)

Yes, if you don't use your washer drain the P-trap can dry out and the fumes and odors from the tank can enter your coach. I would slowly pour some water or antifreeze into the trap then cover up with a cap or tape. Restaurants have the same problem with floor drains. Terrible smells where they can't determine the cause. The floor drains have a P-trap also and do dry out. They pour a solution of bleach and water to refill the P-traps to keep the odor away.

Not sure about your model but our 36RL has a "Cheater" ( a vent that allows air into the drain line to aid flow), it's behind the access door on the side of the slide beside the washer. I suspect that it's allowing odours back in just like the one in the bathroom did. When I get the energy to lift out the washer I will remove it from the plumbing, more trouble than it's worth!
