Slide Closure Detail 31SL

See the attached pictures of the slide closure detail. Poor detail and have had no response from Redwood. Slide touches the coach side and is ruining the paint. Something to say about Quality Control and Attention to Detail.

Wow, I had the same problem with our 31SL which we purchased in Feb 2013. I was always going to cut the short piece myself and re-install but when it was in the Service Center two weeks ago they moved the short piece over so it no longer hits the slide frame.

We have the exact same problem, at delivery I discussed it and ask them to fix it, the factory sent the exact same parts and it looks exactly the same after the alleged fix. This is just a very poor design by the Redwood folks and they obviously don't care enough to provide a reasonable fix.

Hope your gets resolved.

Ours is similar, Dealer is going to work on it. I will try to get pics up this weekend. Agreed, lousy finish on an otherwise gorgeous coach.

We stayed next to a new DVR for the past few nights and I noticed saw his side panels and fenders were all one molded piece. It was very sleek looking, no seams at all. Perhaps Redwood should consider this design in the future.

I had the same problem. Fortunately, my dealer did a great job fixing the mess. I had always assumed it was warranty work.

Mine does the same thing. Not as bad as the picture but the same. I figured they would address it at the next time I come in for service. To tell you the truth I don't notice it and never look at it.

Is this a problem specific to only the 31SL?

I have an FB and don't have the problem either.

I believe these issues are unique to the 31SL, it seems the bigger models do not have this issue. My dealer McGeorge RV in Ashland VA refuses to look at it any further stating the factory has stated it should be that way.

It's a relatively easy fix. The Service center just moved the small piece over to the right about an inch. At least now the slide is not pushing in on the smaller piece. Don't know why the dealer couldn't do that.

We have a 31SL and the problem does not exist. The pieces line up perfectly side by side. Someone did a crummy installation of the pieces and you should not accept it.

Snowbirds, could you possibly post a picture, that way I can take it to my dealer and show them it has been correctly installed before. Additionally, I don't have room on my trailer to move the small piece over, there is only 1/2" between it and the step opening trim.

Thanks to all.

What they can do is trim it to fit --- not hard to do at all !

but IF they do it, make sure they trim the back and not the front or it will make a 'wind tunnel' that WILL bend back one day when towing

(Happened on my previous 5er and made them enclose the front end)
