Angry Ordered new 39MB & excited but not with Va. tax

Hi folks..... my wife & I are excited about the arrival of our new 39MB (traded our 07 Cardinal) and while I knew we were going to take a hit on the Virginia county "personal property tax" on it....... it's still a bit hard to swallow so I needed to vent a bit ..... ball park $2083.00 I'm sure this issue has been posted here elsewhere before concerning states that assess personal property taxes & I have the misfortune of living in one of em, VA. Of course this is above & beyond the over 3grand that I'll be charged for Va. State tax when we finalize the deal. The joys of having a big toy I guess.

Yes......it has been posted on other threads. I agree it's a bit much but I've actually heard worst. I'm in Illinois and here if you earn it...they'll take it regardless if they deserve it.

I do feel your pain. Just went through it a few months back with the purchase of my new RW. As the old saying goes," you can't take it with you." So, spend, spend, spend and enjoy your new RW.

The only way to get "revenge" is to take both off your Fed taxes. Both are deductible if you itemize - along with the interest on your financing.

Already have a second home so can't do the "home" deductions on the 5er.

Unless you make a deal with the funeral home and have it "emplanted"...
I hope to spend most of it to avoid that.

From the time you ordered your rig until delivery, there were a few other people that made a bag of gold off your purchase other than the government, and perhaps less deserving. Everybody got a slice. It's just the governments slice didn't hide behind a MSRP sheet.

SERIOUSLY? I guess earning a profit for a product, or services rendered is somehow equal to a TAX ???? There goes the Constitution

EXACTLY ! ..... my beef wasn't with the dealer making a fair profit, but with Virginia gauging me with their "personal property" tax annually for the same vehicle(s) after already paying them sales tax at time of purchase.

hahaha - think what you want. The government may not be the most well run system out there, but at least the price you pay for SERVICES RENDERED was not-for-profit!

Fair Profit? Are you serious? 40-50% markup just on the dealer lot is FAIR profit? How can you actually sit there and say the State of Virginia "gouged" you to pay for schools and roads and state parks, when the Dealer probably "gouged" you for all you were worth just because he could? Corruption is no match for greed in private enterprise these days.

Oh well - a lot of folks complain about taxes, but a lot of them are the first to jump in line for the handouts.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the enlightenment on the 50% markup.... I had no clue that it's that much....... that would explain the 20 or so % "discount" that I got on the unit. As far as " jumping in line for handouts" I think that most Americans earning a good living are already "spreading the wealth".

Oh come on... it's fun bitching about taxes... Current Ontario govt cancelled a gas plant to "buy" a seat for over 600 million.
