We bought a new 38GK today. Had a few problems that were for the most part corrected but the thing that surprised us was that the bed was drooping at the bottom. This is the slide in a slide and it appears the support by the spring thing stops about 6 inches short of the end of the mattress. Does anyone else see this as a problem???

We replaced the stock king mattress the first day - in fact it 's still in it's plastic bag.

We put a 11" foam mattress like at home in there and yes the edges will droop, especially if you sit on them...

I used some plywood to level the 'box springs' and also give some edge support.... been fine for almost a year...

Congratulations on picking up your Redwood.

We have used the stock mattress with a 2" foam topper for 18 months. Yes the lower 6 - 8" isn't supported by the frame. Hasn't been an issue for us, we just ensure we don't sit on the end of the bed.

Our bed does that, but never really noticed it as a problem. Maybe with your slide in a slide you are more inclined to sit on the edge of the bed to do things with all that space than we are.

Our bed does that too, frame is not as long as the mattress, you learn quickly not to sit on the end of the bed

There is a risk of a longer frame destroying your drawers/armoir when the slide comes in. Our mattress firmly contacts the drawers when the slide is in, I wouldn't want the steel frame pressing into them for sure. Just don't sit on the end of the bed, that's the simple fix. I sit on the steps to tie my shoes :-)

Last year tossed the metal bed frame & used 1/2" plywood, now mattress only hangs over an inch or so & still not anywhere near the dresser.

Same here. Extended it to within an inch of the dressers when the slides are in. I'm 6'4" and immediately noticed the bed frame was too short...

They must have fixed it because our metal frame goes almost to the end of the mattress.

We kind of figured out that the mattresses that are put in the Redwood from the factory are regular sized mattresses, probably because they are less expensive than RV mattresses which are made shorter due to the space. I'm thinking about building a dropdown shelf for the end of the bed to support the mattress and us.

Correction: Our mattress DOES hang over about 4 inches, I checked.

I put some plywood on top of the metal frame. This gave me a better support for the sleep number bed.

We did the same for our Sleep Number mattress, and went one step further: I attached strap hinges to the metal frame at the head of the mattress platform so that the platform doesn't slide sideways on the nylon rollers, and to allow me to lift the bed from the foot to give better access to the space underneath. Next I'm going to devise some way to keep the air pump in the drawer at the foot of the bed - currently, it just sits at the foot of the bed against the base.

We put the pump under the bed. I used a hole saw and cut a 1 inch hole in the base for the electrical. This way i could use the existing electrical plug. I also cut holes in the plywood for the air lines.
