Finally Found The Right 31SL

Well, after a year of researching and agonizing, we signed on a 2017 31SL today.

Almost as soon as we were first attracted to the 31SL several months ago, it was discontinued to "Dealer Stock Only". I didn't know what to think about that at first, but it actually worked out to our benefit in the end.

Ever since the 31SL was discontinued, we have closely watched the remaining on-line stock while seriously considering SOB. The SOB has several attractive features, and we flipped-flopped both logically and emotionally between the two models up until the very end. But we remained drawn to the fit, finish, features, and quality of the Redwood. With the year-end approaching, we decided it was time to get serious before our choices started to evaporate. When we actually saw the coach we bought today, we knew that the features and pricing were too good to pass up.

Unfortunately due to my job schedule (yes, unfortunately we are both still working for a little bit longer) we won't pick the 5er up until later next February, but plans are in the works for some serious down time in the near future.

I want to thank everyone for all the valuable information and feedback I have received on this forum. A year ago we didn't know anything about fifth wheels, trucks, tow ratings, hitches, full body paint, or...well, the list goes on and on. I know that a new level of self ignorance will be revealed once we pick the coach up, so I look forward to your continued knowledge and support. I am not inhibited about asking "stupid" questions!

So, here's to a new future that's just over the horizon!

Congratulations! This is a great bunch of people and a great product. If you can possibly make it, try to come to the Rally in Indiana. A full week of new experiences and Redwoods. This year it is the week of July 17-23 in Shipshewana, IN

Very nice!! Other than the color, looks just like mine.

We have had ours since April and could not be happier. It is currently in indoor heated storage. I am so enamored with it that I keep trying to talk the DW into spending the night in it while in storage. She isn't buying it yet...

Finally picked up our 2017 31SL, and enjoying our first outing this weekend at Garner State Park near Uvalde TX. Shaking out some of the bugs and making the list. There are a few things needing repair, but in general it’s been great. I think that given enough time, patience, and determination, we will adapt to this level of luxury camping. Practice, practice, practice….

We’ll drop it back off at the dealer on our way back in for the post delivery repairs, and then hopefully take it back out again in a few weeks and finally home.

Nice looking rig! Look me up someday, we are done the road from you in Del Rio.

Who is your dealer? We purchased from Explorer, but when we had a few things that needed repairs, they wanted to make a service appointment about 8 weeks out, so we made a road trip back to the factory for the repairs.
Good luck
Ken

We purchased from ExploreUSA in Seguin. When we picked it up, we arranged to return it after the weekend use because there were some pre-delivery repairs that still weren't complete. We have the wrinkled ceiling material problem, and their still waiting on replacement trim to fix it.
