I have a 13,000 lb. boat on a triple axle trailer that probably weighs over 4,000 lbs. I would love to have disc's on it.

Have you done any boat trailers? I would think submerging the trailer would make it impossible....

Rob, I've got 90K miles on my OEM GM brakes and still plenty of pad, and most of those miles are towing, but everything I've towed (Montana and two RWs) all have had Disc. Between the Exhaust Brake and the Disc on the trailers the Trucks brakes don't really get used much.

Many of the boat trailers come with disk brakes from the factory now. I looked at converting mine, but settled for just converting to electric vs surge because of the cost.

Boat Trailer Disc Brakes

Yes, we put them on boat trailers. The actuator is waterproof, all components are sealed and the cover has drain holes.

We would typically mount on the tonque on a riser to try to keep it and the breakaway battery out of the water as much as possible.

Wow that looks like a great mounting spot. My spare tire is currently there. I am sure I could re-locate the spare under the nose of the boat and mount the components where you have them. The only problem is that to get the boat on the trailer 50% of the spare tire is currently submerged so I anticipate that the controller could also be close if not submerged.

I drive a truck that has a internal brake controller that could require a CAM module. With those things in mind, do you still think it is doable?

Thanks

Larry
