Any suggestions on Insurance for a 38gk?

Our renewal just came in and it went from $800 to $2400 per year -
I guess National General Insurance wants to make ALL it's profit off of our policy ?!?

Appreciate any suggestions on getting our 2014 38gk insured for the year...

Thanks in advance !

Try Good Sam Vehicle Insurance. I pay $467.00 annually for my 2013 31SL and they will refund you the liability portion any time you have your fifth wheel in storage. It's the cheapest I could find.

We have the RV and all our company and personal vehicles through Cincinnati Ins Co. I believe our insurance for the Redwood is around $700-$750 a year.

I had called Progressive because they advertise heavily for RV's but they were almost twice the price of Good Sam, no brainer!! I also called State Farm which carries all my rental property insurance, my personal home and all vehicles and their quote was much higher than Good Sam.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize Good Sam was now General Insurance. When I purchased it , it was underwritten by GMAC but that was last April. I do remember receiving a notice that they had changed. So, the quote I gave you is what I paid until April of this year. I have not received my renewal yet, I may be in the same boat at that time. I can guarantee you that my business will be taken elsewhere if mine triples. I too have never filed a claim.

I guess just for the hell of it I'll shop around and see if there's any chance of saving money. We've got a clean record without tickets or accidents.

It will be interesting to keep this thread going just to find out what other people are paying. I can assure you there are large differences between insurance companies. I just called State Farm and the least expensive policy they would offer me is $450/year but that was with a $2000.00 deductible. If I wanted a $500.00 deductible the price was $990.00/year. It would be nice to hear from everyone else on their cost.

Try Blue Sky insurance. They cut our insurance rate from the Gecko at $2600 for six months to $1800 for the year with a $500 deductable and full replacement value of both our Redwood and our F450.

Our insurance is Mercury based out of California. Both truck and RW are ~$1700 per year with a $1000 deductible. Our pricing assumes our home base for insurance is Sacramento, CA. Mercury is offered in a few other states.

Thanks everyone for the quotes, keep them coming. It may help a lot of people realize they are getting the shaft from their company. It certainly helps narrow down the possibilities.

Everyone talk about such low rates from Good Sam, but I've tried getting quotes from them several times and they have been at least double what our Progressive policy is. We have both the RW and Chevy with Progressive.

If we are comparing rates... we should compare apples to apples because now that they are using ANY claim history or anyone's credit scores, that impacts it, but the price you paid, the coverage and the deductibles do too...

don't expect anyone to post credit scores, but deductibles and coverage should be....
like is it full replacement or 50/100/50 or $5000 deductible or ....
