If any of you start having problems with air in your water lines OR if your water pump has to run excessively, I've found the solution to the problem.

As some of you might remember, I was having water issues since I got my trailer back from the factory service. Last December after I winterized my trailer it had to go back to the factory for some body work and while it was there they also took care of the siphoning problem. Apparently they also did some updates to my plumbing and since the trailer was already winterized they didn't check their work by putting water in the lines.

I've been fighting air in the lines every since and the factory even sent me a new pump so I went through and put new clamps on all the pex lines. It sure got better but it wasn't quite right. Yesterday while basting in the warmth of the Phoenix sun, I emptied the basement and with determination ( a beer) and my pex tools, I took the whole damn thing apart again. Well let me tell you, when there's a man with a cold beer and a tool box in a FULL campground of 55+ bored men, it sure drew a crowd. Soon we had about 5 guys looking over my shoulders drinking beer discussing how things aught to be done and how things are total POS these days. After a few beers and some lengthy conversations of politics and of course using my trailer to as an educational tool on teaching the finer elements of pex piping.....we found the problem.

Looking at the winterization water line sticking out of the service area, you'll see a black plastic cap. Someone at the factory put a new cap on mine but without any type of "O" ring or gasket. The cap was sure on there tight but it allowed air to get into the system and once the pump turned off all the water was allowed to slowly bleed down back into the tank. To solve this little issue I cut that line off and put a new pex shut off on the end of it so the cap can't come loose and eliminating an future issues.

Actually we all enjoyed having something to work on so we started considering breaking something so the 5 of us had something else to fix. We came to the conclusion that if the Rv folks would simply hire us old guys and feed us beer, in a relatively short time we could create some real kick ass RVs that would last a life time. Mature men, tool boxes and cold beer....Tim Allen would be proud. rrrrrrrr

That is a good find, and an even funnier way to explain it. I could envision everyone standing around holding a beer going "yup" like in the ally of Hank Hill's house in Arlen.
