Winegard Batwing totaled

My husband and I both apparently had a "senior moment" today and didn't crank the antenna down. Antenna met trees - trees won
Has anyone replaced theirs and is it a difficult job? I ordered a new one from camping world and I'm hoping it's something we can do??

is it just the wing, or did it mess up the mast? The wing can be replaced in moments.

Eddie said the whole thing was bent so I assume that includes the mast

well I think that just makes the part more expensive (you have to buy more than the wing), but if the base is OK, it's still an easy replacement. Couple of cotter pins I believe. You might have to fish the coax through the mast if it isn't in there already.

Here is what it looks like up there.

I come from an aviation background. Pilots use an abundance of checklists i.e. taxi checklist, before takeoff, before landing, etc.

My wife and I use an interior checklist and an exterior checklist before takeoff. It keeps us, particularly at our age, from pranging, bending, or otherwise destoying something that slips our attention.

The key, though, is to use it every time and check off every item.

Affirmative, we used checklists on passenger ships and they definitely help.

I would just get a king hdtv replacement head from camping world for 38.21, then find a 3-4 inch piece of the mast thats not bent drill a hole in each end .mount one end in base one end in the head , now you never have to crank it up or down. Just a thought, I replaced my bat wing with it get a few more channels. Pull the cable out before you cut the mast.

I saw that chklist... and thought
so I have to get in the truck, turn on the truck and read the next step, get out of the truck go back to the rv and chk it ?
Don't think so !

I do everything outside while the wife does inside, then when finished, we reverse roles and each do a walk around and RELISH finding something the other missed

The check list is in our minds... it needs exertion every once in a while too !

I bring up the list on my Ford after I've done my breakdown, just a double check to make sure I've don't everything...for this purpose the list is useful.

I find a walkthru and circle check by each of us makes sure we did not miss anything.
Funniest thing I ever saw was a few years ago. A guy who did a very thorough check of his sailboat just before and after we launched it for the season. He checked his transmission, started the motor, checked for water flow, we cast off the lines, he put her in gear and motored away with no wheel! We laughed our arses off.

I think the graphics are cool! I just discovered it the other day. Didn't have it on my 2008.

We replaced our antennae with the Jack - no more up and down or forgetting to lower the mast. Good picture with no hassle.

We replaced ours with the Jack as well. Better signal, has a signal indicator that once you tune in for the best strength you can turn off the bright blue strength indicator lights.

You are getting good reception from it ?

Have heard disparaging remarks about the Jack antenna's mostly on other forums... but never tried it...

I replaced mine with Jack too. I try to do all my replacements with Jack, sometimes in a little sour mix!
