Good news: Wimpy vacuum now successfully sucks dirt, after its top was firmly attached in the storage area. But I'd like to clean up dog hair better (2 dogs). If anyone has installed a more powerful central vac, what brand and model did you install, and where did you buy it? Send me a PM if you like.

If you know anything about labs --- they shed !! and if a 120 lb white one !!! Oh my !
though not central - we got the Dyson 'animal' version when we got that big girl and it's still running strong !!! and store it in the closet (wife and I didn't like bending down to drag around the long hose anyway - so win win!)Edited by: johnboytoo

Agree - our white Lab leaves trails of hair as he walks. We also have a black German Shepherd that contributes almost as much hair.

With all the hair and sand they brought up from the beaches we found the built in hoover did a great job.

I can"t imagine using anything more powerful than the Redwood's Dirt Devil. I just used it and it practically sucks the vinyl floor up from the underlayment. Maybe they make a "Lab" attachment.Edited by: 5th_Time
