There are numerous products on the market to eliminate pet odors, such as Knock Out, Drs Foster & Smith carry several products. Don't thing they totally eliminate the odor, bet do make it a little less noticeable.

I also like the idea of the power hookup mid-ship instead of in the back. It makes sense that it would be the best place to access all power poles...front, rear or center. I would alsolike to see Redwood go to individual switches for all their slides. When traveling it becomes very difficult to only open one particular slide. With my longbed truck, I cannot open the battery compartment completely to close one slide off. It requires almost lying on your back and fishing your arm up through the door opening to accomplish the task. Not too many Baby Boomers wanting to do that. The batteries need to be relocated to make battery maintenance much easier for us Seniors. I can get down on my knees but getting up from that position is quite entertaining for those watching. Same goes for the sewer hook up. I have to get on my knees to hook the hose up as the connection is 6-8"under the sidewall.

Batteries, I would love to meet the engineer that designed the battery boxes, why would you run the cables through the top of the box? I would smack him!

Is it just me, or is it a major job just to check the level?????

Pier One makes some nice hanging sachets that work for a while. Anyone have suggestions?
Odor Eliminator - think you can find it at Sam's Club in a gallon jug. Also have used a product called "Zero Odor Pet" - worked great.

The battery boxes were one of the first issues that I addressed. The generator cables and the invertor cables were run through the battery box tops and sealed with an abundant amount of black silicone which all had to be removed to service the batteries. I replaced the boxes with a large box that carries 4- 6volt Trojans perfectly. I did get the box info from this forum somewhere. By the way, the batteries that I removed were no name group 29, not the 31's as advertised - not much difference in specs but??

That 6-V setup is nice! You were probably seeing Ken's (BRENKCO) setup - he did nice work and all fits nicely in the compartment.

My original plan was to actually get under there and cut the original sewer pipe and put a permanent extension on it to bring it out to the side but I ended up placing the additional slide valve adapter on the pipe so it brings it out to the edge anyway. I'm thinking of leaving it on at all times but at some point I'm afraid it might slip off during travel. I was told the reason why the connection was so far under the side was because they quit using the boom because people were complaining about it. You would think that if you change the way you are making something you would rethink the entire process to solve any additional issues like getting on your knees and requiring the user to reach way under the side to hook his sewer line up....................but what do I know?

I just recently cut the main sewer pipe a few inches from where it exits the Drop Down Frame Section. Installed a new Gate Valve, shorted the remaining pipe before glueing into the valve, installed my 12" Clear extension, and it now exits just behind the middle jack, so I ty wrapped it to the jack mounting plate.

The extension is held in place with a large band/hose clamp over the tabs & I added the piece of strap that bolts to the side & clamped also. You could add the clamp to your valve & not worry about losing it.

I used the Century Plastics Heavy Duty battery box Item#GCQ-G available from Allbatterysalesandservice.com. It is designed for the 4 - 6volt batteries but I used the original batteries with blocking for a couple months until the budget could support the Trojan 6 volts. The box fits perfectly in the compartment and really helps to tidy up the rats nest there. Also, if you go with the 4-6volts and have the residential refrig. you will not have any concerns about running the batteries down on a long drive. I will try to get a photo this weekend. Ken

Battery Box Photo

I hope this works! I'm such a rookie. I had promised to forward a photo of the battery box that we used although I am fairly certain that I got the idea from photos posted some time ago on this forum.

It worked just fine and I hope you don't mind me following your lead. I can't live with the factory install and what you did will work great.
Thanks for sharing Ken&Cyndie

Several Things Need To Be addressed!

First off, the switches in the coach need to be labled! I'm in the process of doing that now.

Also, Redwood needs to put a door outside lite switch at the entrance door on the wall inside. If you come back to your campsite at night and forgot to turn the outside lights on, it would be nice to be able to open the door and flip the switch on, rather than entering a dark coach and fumbling around for the outside lights.

I'm sure I'll find more stuff to report on.

We found a led motion light & plugged in end of the island, now everytime you open the door the lights on & no more unmarked swithes. Happy trails & we'll leave the light on for ya!
