Washer and dryer??

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or any advice for installing stackable washer and dryer? I have seen some that build a shelf between the units...do I need to put a shelf between or stack one on top? How did you vent the dryer? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

My previous 5er, the units were stacked on top of each other, in my Redwood I put the Dryer on a shelf, works much better, will never actually stack the units again.
Dryer is vented through the wall with a Dryer Vent

Why does it work better? And how did you mount the shelf?

When any Front Load Washer goes into the spin cycle it will shake, sometimes more sometimes less depending on what is in it.
With the Dryer mounted on top of it, the Dryer really gets a good shaking and just magnifies the shake.
The Shelf mounting for the dryer is just he standard shelf that is in there with good / solid mounting hardware. The dryer is really not that heavy and does not shake when running.

I have a Maytag Washer and a Sears Dryer (both Whirlpool products), picked them up at a Sears Outlet Store in Tampa for approx. $700 for both units. Whirlpool makes a nice unit at a reasonable price, lots of RVers have Whirlpool Washers and Dryers in their RVs.
Since I live on the road and move every few weeks year round I though if I have a warranty problem with one of them, there is Sears service everywhere.
Been using them regularly for 5 years now, no problems.

Agree with Rob again. We have a combo unit that Char found used and hardly used. I have no exterior vent. It works good but made more for the weekend user.

Once we start longer trips we will switch to separate units and vent through the wall.

Splendide sells a dryer vent kit that comes complete with a chrome or paintable vent fitting.
In the RL it is set up for side by side. I used small units made for apartment use. On third season, works great , lightweight and a total $$ of less than 700

Mine are standard 24 Inch wide units, I had no problem with the closet width but the closet depth was too shallow so I had to remove the bi-fold doors add some trim 1" x 2" to the opening and reinstall the doors to effectively make the cabinet deeper.

Hi. We installed Splendide Ariston washer & dryer with dryer mounted on shelf. We have a 38GK. Dryer vented using Splendide chrome vent kit. It is a tight fit to install but easier than if the dryer was stacked directly on top of the washer. We also put a pan underneath washer if any leaks in the future. Purchased from PPL RV in Houston, Cleburne, Tx. Splendide Ariston Washer ARWXF129W and Dryer TVM63X. We did not have to modify closet door.

Would you mind posting a picture? And how did you vent the dryer out? May I also see a picture of the outside dryer vent? Sorry to be a pain...

Attached are two pictures of the washer & dryer, vent. Our Dealer installed the vent. We would have liked to have vent put higher so it was not in the Redwood name.

Speaking of the laundry bifold door, ours opens during travel. Anyone else have that issue and/or fix?

Ordered my previous Forest River Cardinal & current 39MB with stackable W/D & never had any issues to date with em being stacked on top one another. They're designed to do that.

One thing I like about the Whirlpool units is the drums are larger / deeper than the Splendide units.
Also with my units being separate, I can get to the water shutoff, if they were stacked it would not be accessible until the dryer was removed.

Also you can see in the bottom picture the extension trim I installed to allow the Maytag Washer to fit. (These units fit in our previous 5er with room to spare, the Redwood closet is much shallower)

Smile Washer/Dryer Info

I have a maytag washer and a whirlpool dryer 125 volt side by side units, whirlpool gold dryer has a lint screen that is in the back wall of the drum not the easiest to get to, cabinet frame is in the way on the bottom sill tough to get very heavy washing machine over that edge without padding and a chunk of carpet to protect wood sill

also there is a maytag pump strainer service screen under the bottom front cover of maytag washer which is impossible to service without pulling machine up on blocks and out over that padded front edge ( I found a Ear-ring in mine). on my 2012 36 RE,

maytag water outlet hose fittings come straight out of back cabinet, needed and installed brass 90 degree fittings so hoses dont "kink" when pushed back into enclosure also braided stainless premium hoses from home depot.

washer does shake camper when it spins, both fit behind doors barely very tight fit ,
vent is hole sawed thru left side of slide enclosure back wall chrome vent cover outside

also pull bed frame and pedestal covers and check drain line connections under bed pedestal, mine came apart caused bad leak no washers on grey flex line from factory .(see my tech fix article on this site,)
