Upgrade suspension

Has anyone upgraded their suspension to the Mor ryde SRE4000 with cross member. Is it worth the cost? Does anyone know the labor cost to have this installed? Thanks for the input.

Yes, there are many threads regarding this upgrade. I don't think there has been a single person, myself included, who hasn't been happy with the upgrade.

I installed the MorRyde SRE 4000 on both my previous SOB 5th Wheel and my Redwood.
I was very happy with the results on both 5ers.
Due to the constant year round travel I was doing with our Redwood, after about a year of running the MorRyde SRE 4000 I ultimately chose to move up from the SRE 4000 to the MorRyde IS Suspension.

I did a search on this site and didn't find any posts about it. Thanks for respond. Where do most people get it done. Local or Mor ryde service center. I'm getting too old to do it my self, I did one once it's a lot work for old man.

If you're relatively close to Elkhart, I'd recommend having them do the work.

We upgraded to 4000 SRE spring of 2017. Huge difference was a good choice for us. If I were full timer would do the IS upgraded. I had our local dealer give a quote but ended up doing myself with help of a friend.

We upgraded in the spring of 2017. Much better setup than the factory considering the weight of these units. Teflon bushings what a joke. Did the install myself with a bottle jack and a cargo strap.

I upgraded to the sre4000, and was happy with the results...

After a year of towing, we ultimately decided to upgrade again to the IS.. IF your going to the service center, IF you plan on putting a lot of miles on your RW, IF you can swing it, The IS is far superior but much more expensive..
Sre4000 - $400 + install
IS - $3000.00 all in give or take

I agree with everyone here I recently changed out my suspension to the 4000's but then had some major problems with spring failure on the rear axle. For the longer higher weight Redwoods I would consider going with the IS system. After talking to one of the members that has the same model as we do it has come to my attention that the sticker unloaded weight is considerably different than the 13,800 it states on the door. More like 15,100 without anything added water, propane, and all your belongings. Then have the factory management tell them that the weight is figured at the base model. If you are going fulltime with your RW then I would be OK with the 4000 system on the shorter RW models the longer heavier models I would strongly recommend the IS system with H rated tires. About a 5 grand investment. The thing is if you are living fulltime in one of these the insurance of not being stuck on the interestate on a bridge, tunnel, serious accident becaue of failure somewhere would not be a good thing to go through. With that thought reasoning makes it worth serious consideration.

Thanks to Crossroads

When I started this trip to Robertsdale AL for the winter everything was fine. I left KCMO area in October spent time in southern MO, then to Wagoner OK. Then on to Russellville AK for a month. On Thanksgiving morning I headed south and just south of Conway AK I noticed in my rear view mirror that the rear axle had moved a few inches out. I stopped at the next truck pull out to check what was going on. I found the rear spring wet bolt missing from rear axle spring and hanger, spring was up against sub floor. The tires had 2”clearance one side and about 6” on the other NOT GOOD. I called for Help remember thanksgiving morning about 9 o’clock. They couldn’t find any one that wanted work on the Holiday. Finally help came from Fort Smith 2 hours later and was able pull the axle back in place and installed 5” bolt in spring hanger. When I paid the Bill it was $1009.98 for 1 ˝ hours work and travel time. Thank You CROSSROADS for Paying the Bill. Then I was able to find a dealer in this area to replace the bushings and both wet bolts on the rear spring. They also checked into the power winder problem. I ‘m owned this camper since July 29 2016 but had not able to travel because my wife was sick. I loss her in March and then July I went out west for a few months, no problems during that trip. I wanted tell the story and THANK CROSSROADS for the Help.

Sorry for your loss, I lost my wife of almost 40 years about 2 years ago now. It sure rocked my world for sure but fulltiming, traveling and meeting many wonderful RVers along the way sure helped me get through the tough times.

As far as Crossroads / Redwood support, has our Redwood been perfect and trouble free, no.
Has our Redwood been any worse than other SOB RVs I have owned over the years, nope.
But I will say Crossroads / Redwood has always supported me and stepped up and has always done the right thing, kudos to them.

Buck, so sorry for the loss of your wife. I can't imagine what that must be like. My wife is having difficulties and I haven't been able to talk with her off and on for the last month because she slips out of consciousness and just that loss of daily communication is tearing me up. Prognosis is good and she awoke yesterday for a hi and it has made my week!

I'm happy Crossroads came through for you on the shackle and thank goodness you were able to keep it upright! I thought is was Keystone now though?

Redwood was a Crossroads product, but now I believe all of Crossroads, if it still exist, are Keystone products all of which are subsidiaries of Thor. Thor is 80-85% of the rv industry owning just about any brand, make, model you will see on the highway, while Forest River has biggest share of the rest.

Wow, we have made the same path, we had our Sunnybrook TT for 9 years, great trailer.
We had two Jayco's, a Jayco Eagle 5th Wheel then when we first went Fulltime we got a Jayco Pinnacle 5th Wheel for a several years then moved up to the Redwood.
The move to the Redwood was a good move for us as we have really enjoyed our Redwood.

upgrade to SRE 4000

When you all upgraded to SRE 4000 how many installed the 3 cross members?
At my age and the traveling I may do, I'm backing off of having the IS system installed at this time. Seems to make more since to take baby steps.

The only problem with "Baby Steps" is that after enough Baby Steps it would have been better to have just taken one "Big Step".
There's some on this Forum who took those baby steps and finally put on there Big Boy shoes and made that Big Step. But I understand that many times it's that sticker shock of the Big Step.

We installed one cross member and are very pleased with the result. I understand that it is necessary to install a single cross member in order to qualify for the morRyde warranty, but three cross members would certainly strengthen the spring hangers, especially when they torque during tight turns.
