Yes, it has optical button. I am going to go get optical cable and go from there. I will reply whether I get it working or not after getting cable. Inbox me your email address if you want and I could send pict. of remote.

There is a test tone that can be generated by the unit and it steps through each speaker while show in the front panel display which speaker it should be. Ours had a front and rear swapped from the factory.

My unit came with an RCA entertainment system. Had many problems with the remote control. Finally after two sets of supposedly newbatteries the remote worked. RW also installed an optical cable from the TV "out" to the RCA unit. All you have to do is turn on the RCA unit, select TV input, turn down the speakers on the TV, and enjoy the sound. I must admit thatrigs with this cost should have a better entertainment system in unit and speakers. I will live with the factory install for now and look at another system later.

Has anyone replaced the ceiling speakers in the RL/RE/FB yet? I have replaced that integratedRCA unit with a separate Sony A/V Receiver (STR-DH720) so I could gain some (4) HDMI input ports& switching to connect aSony Blu-ray player (BDP-S590)andthe DTV HDSat receiver. I removed the sub and replaced it with a small Mirage powered subwoofer (MM-8). But now I'm getting around to the ceiling speakers and they could use some improvement. To me, they sound muffled and difficult to hear at low volume. Anyone upgraded?

Not very hard at all. Four screws at the top and bottom of the front and bottom of the front of the fireplace. Pull it out and you'll see the subwoffer.

If you desire to replace the RCA or LG unit with components like I did, as I mentioned you have to replace the subwoofer with a powered unit because receivers use an RCA cablefor the sub output. I removed my old sub, but placed the new sub in the upper left cabinet in the entertainment center. I wanted access to it because it has controls. Also simplified the wiring because it sits next to my A/V receiver, blu-ray and sat receiver which all fit perfectly in the center cabinet.Love how the RL hasfrosted glass doors on the cabinets so the remoteswork.

Now if I could just figure out how to get the covers off the ceilingspeakers so I can measure them... Edited by: 5th_Time

5th_Time - When you figure outhow to removethecovers, I'm interested in knowing how,as I am planning on installing Bose speakers and A/V receiveras one of the first upgrades. Haven't decided on the receiver yet, but the am certain the Bose surround system will be perfect.

When I was first checking out our 36RL (we have the LG system), I discovered that only 2 out of 5 sets of speaker wires were connected (primarily from being too short). I extended the wires and placed the LG player into test mode and connected the speakers to the appropriate outputs. Now all of the speakers worked except the sub-woofer. I had that checked when I had mycoach in to the factory for its annual inspection and they ended up replacing the sub-woofer.

Unfortunately, my coach is stored away for the winter and it has been several months (last summer) since I went through this process. I found the speaker test mode referenced in the LG manual, so, I would recommend that you become very familiar with the manual.

1. You will have toconfigure your TV input so that it is receiving a signal from the LG player/amplifier. This is so you can see the LG menu selections on the TV screen.

2. As I recall, the speaker test placed a display on the TV screen with the 5 speakers indicated andsent a white noise signalto each speaker for several seconds. The test signal was then sequentially sent to each speaker continuously circulating through all 5 speakers until you terminate the test.

I hope this helps to get you started. If you need more, I will have to spend some time in my coach and review the process again my self.
