towing nose high

After adjusting everything and using the trailer for a few times , I decided to lower the front by 2-1/2" ( 1 set of pin box holes).. I had between 9"-10" between the bottom of the trailer and the bed rails.. now I have not measured yet , or even hooked back up again , but I should have between 6-1/2"-7-1/2" . . I have always been under the impression that 6" would be the min ???

That's what I had always heard for a short bed. I'm not sure on a long bed.

The highly technical version my last Dealer used was "two fists"

If and when it stops raining , I will hook up and check all my measurement's... I will make sure my 17 year old daughter is close by so I can use HER fist

hahaha ya, pretty high tech. Thats how some of these PDIs go, and mine was given by the Service Manager (our Montana). In defense of our Redwood Dealer, the PDI was actually pretty good at Explore USA Canton.

Our PDI was pretty thorough... I passed on alot of the usual info... It was noted about the nose high , and I said I would drop by at a later date if I wanted them to adjust..
there are some things just not worth getting others involved in... If I am capable and have the time , I'll do it myself .

here is my update

Well it stopped raining this weekend and I was able to go out and hook up the trailer and see my bed clearance...
Since moving the pin box up 1 set oh holes , I went from 9-1/2" clearance to 7" bed clearance and sitting almost perfectly level... I can always add some air to the pin if I need to go a bit higher to gain some additional clearance , but I don't think that will be necessary ..

It should be fine. Check it on a couple of dip downs or gutters and see how close the tailgate comes up in the back.

I've got about 6.5" and never a problem yet except with my flip bed cover that folds to the front. I haven't hit it yet but I wouldn't want to take a hard turn and hit a dip at the same time.

That's what happened to me with 6" clearance. There was a sharp rise as I was pulling out of a gas station in busy traffic and I had to hit the gas when the truck was on the road. As the trailer came off the rise on an angle the corner of my box cover caught the piece of trim under the overhang and popped out a couple of screws. I will get about 71/2 inches of clearance with my new pin box to eliminate this problem.
