Thor Industries Acquires Jayco

Jayco has been a family owned company for a very long time.

The Jayco Companies include,

Jayco Towable's and Motor Homes
StarCraft Towable's
Highland Ridge (Open Range) Towable's
Entegra Motor Coach

Now Thor has,

Jayco
Airstream
Crossroads
Keystone
Heartland
DRV
and the list goes on !!!

YEP and many of us are very upset. If I had wanted a Thor product I would have bought one. I'll be at the factory next Tuesday and I'll see what happens but right now we're considering our options.

Maybe it's time to buy a couple of houses in different parts of the country and give up the RV thing.

While I am not a big fan of Thor owning most of the RV industry I also don't think it is the end of the RV experience. Look at it this way. Your coach was not a Thor product when you bought it and still isn't just because Thor owns the company. Grab a cool one and enjoy.

After the warranty runs out it doesn't make much difference whose name is on it as long as you can get parts.

The point here is Thor now controls over 47% of the RV Market.
Between Thor and Forest River controlling the majority of the RV market and suppliers, makes it hard for the smaller companies (where the real innovations occur) to compete and survive.
The same thing is happening with suppliers with Lippert buying up many of the smaller companies.
Having no competition is not always a good thing for pricing, quality, product innovation and customer service.
Jayco has a long family history and a 2 year warranty on all of their product line, bet the first thing to go away is the 2 year warranty.
