Surge Protection?

OK, maybe this will sound like a stupid question but here goes. I currently have a portable "Surge Guard" 50 amp portable protection unit that I always use when connecting to shore power, however, If I am at a park that only has 30 amp connections, will a 30 amp conversion pigtail hooked up to my 50 amp surge protector still protect me the same as when I am hooked to 50 amp shore power, or do I need to specifically have a 30 amp Surge Protector?

Rick your 50 amp will still protect you even if plugged into a 30 amp outlet.

Yep, same as our Hard Wired unit does if we're on 30 or even 15 or 20 amp service.

Buy the 50 and you are covered for everything
Are you looking at the hardwired or the plug in model. They both work the same except the plug in model at the pedestal is easier to steal

I already have the 50 amp portable and like you, purchased It a little over a year ago and paid a lot more for it. I was thinking if I needed a 30 amp I would get it at the today price. I have found at many of the pedestals, I can lock the pedestal which prevents any one from stealing it. If the pedestal is not lockable I have a cable that I wrap around the pedestal and lock it on the surge protector so it would take a lot of work to steal it. I bought the portable because I want to be able to take it from one RV to another if I and when I trade.

Been fulltime almost 7 years with the portable surge protector, camped from coast to coast border to border & it's never been locked nor been stolen, did have the first one burn up due to park power.

I have had two of the portable Progressive surge protectors. I have also been all over this country from Florida to Washington state. I have never had a problem with a unit being stolen, but, someone did get a free unit a couple of years ago because I left it on the pedestal when we packed up to leave. Actually did the same thing a second time last year at the Fort Knox travel camp and I had to have my son-in-law go to the campground and retrieve it. Now, that is the first item into storage when we pack up to leave. I hate this getting "older memory forgetfullness" thing.

Same here, we have a portable surge protector and have been coast to coast, never had it stolen.
I so far have not forgotten the surge protector and left it at a CG.
I never take it off the power cable, I just lay the cable with the surge protector attached in the back bed of the truck as we travel to the next stop, then setup again.
I have a couple left water "Y" units on the water spigot when using two hoses and left a water filter stand behind once.

I always heard stories about people and their keys...never really had a problem until now.

I've got so many key rings because the cars keys have gotten so big....truck...each car...company cars...Redwood...building keys....and office keys. Seems like I'm always searching for keys.

I wish somebody could invent a universal remote for cars.

Danny.......enjoy your trip to the northwest..........it's a beautiful area, but, be prepared for very, very heavy traffic on the I-5 corridor.

We were there all of last August and may head back there the last two weeks of August this year after attending the RW rally in Shipshewanna. Probably will be just a car trip this year.
