Slide hits fan on the way in

Our dining area/recliners slide has started to hit the ceiling fan when we bring it in. The unit is level. It was close to the fan before but now it hits it and we have to stop the slide and manually put the fan blade above the slide and then continue to close it. If we forget one time we will be in for a large repair bill. All suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Richard and Peggy,

It would be helpful if you put your year and model in your signature - as they are not all the same.

There were some issues I recall of the fans on the 2012s getting hit by the slide. I do not know the resolve, but some here have resolved it.

Actually it won't be a large repair bill - the fan blade will just snap - I KNOW this for a fact as it did that on my last 5er
just went to one of the big box stores and bought a blade pack for about $30 and replaced them all...

One thing I found is that the blades had started to sag because of lose screws,
you might check that ...

good luck !

Just went through this on mine. Was lifting it up as the wife pulled in the slides until the blade cleared then walked over the dining table. Got frustrated and took the blades off and pulled the fan out. It turned out to be an easy fix for me at least. The whole thing was bent. The bracing was not letting the fan sit flush and level. I bent it as straight as I could and put it all back together. You might be able to push the fan up on the one side to straighten it out.

Flip the blades over from time to time. I use this technique on my outside fans at home.

They do sag and they do hit the slide on our 2013 RL. I am the climber while the wife laughs at my lack of nimbleness. No more jack be quick In this boy. All in all we hang a dish towel over during the above process to prevent rubbing while hooked up. We move our coach twice a year and this works for us.

My fan is self locking. When we travel the chain wraps around one of the blades and locks it down, and I have to get up and unravel it to use it

The other day we had the fan running, all of a sudden we heard this awful noise...trace it to the fan so we shut it off...noise stops???
Upon investigation we find one of the screws that hold the blades onto the motor [each blade has two screws] is GONE, the other has loosened so the blade bracket is touching the outside housing, this is what is causing the noise!!

The weird thing, we have never found the screw that came out???

Got a new screw and tightened all the screws...all is good!

Ours too !!!

but wasn't quite keeping it immobile enough so got a longer chain and heavier end so we could reach it without exposing our belly to our guests when the shirt hiked up

I broke a fan blade but the service center somehow fixed the fan so it didn't hit anymore

Are you saying you intentionally wrap the chain around the blade to raise it up for travel?

No-no, that's just how mine ends up everytime after travel. In fact I wonder if it actually pulls on the chain hard enough to turn it one. I guess someday I will find out when I plug in the coach

That could be interesting!! I guess the chain would break before any significant damage???

The fan motor has very low starting torque and the chain isn't long enough to tangle in a manner that would completely prevent the fan from turning. I have had the chain wrap around the fan arm a few times but it has never been a problem. I always make sure that the fan is turned off before putting in the slides.

Fan might be off when you put in the slides but if the chain wraps around blade it could be pulled enough to switch fan on???
But if torque is so low it would prevent the fan from turning I guess it wouldn't cause damage...at least until you go to untangle the chain, then...watch out, make sure your head isn't in the path of the blades!!
