Ginny and I are test driving motor homes that range from $350,000 up to $460,000 and I already see things I'm going to have to keep an eye on. As soon as you put something on wheels a cruise down a bumpy highway......there's problems.

We purchased a new 2014 38rl about a month ago and had a few problems with it. This is the 4th RV we have owned purchased them all new and had problems with them all, The glass on the fire place shattered, Broke a leaf spring on the drivers side and had the controler for the slide in the slide fail. Other than the annoyance the customer service people at Redwood were great. They were very responsive to our problems. Randy, Mike and Bill were great. They replaced not just the leaf spring but both axels in 4 hours just to be sure that we did not have any more problems, The fireplace was replaced and the controller was swapped out allot no charge. We have been very happy both with our unit and the customer service at Redwood. Yes we would buy a Redwood again. It seems that Quality control across the board in the RV industry leaves a lot to be desired, however the response to our problems from the the guys at Redwood/Crossroads have been great.

^After my 36rl comes off line later this month, I hope I get to be in the crowd that gets to recommend a Redwood.

I had 2 Heartlands, and only very, very minor problems I fixed myself. I pulled them thousands of miles.

Brad
My rear escape handle just broke off also, e-mailed Kinro & got an immediate phone call, it wasn't under warranty (1 year), but got an e-mail about 2 minutes later from a Bill Boynton needed info on my RW & would send me the part right away, all this took literally 5 minutes, it will take me a lot longer than that to repair it. Great customer service!!

That's fantastic Danny! Did they just send you the part that you can rivet back on or is it a whole window?

I know exactly what happened to mine - sometime in production that frame where the bracket locks in the handle was bent up, so it pulled down hard on the bracket and it finally broke off the bottom of the window. Had to have been during production, because the couch completely hides it and it doesn't touch it.

Brad only the handle on mine broke off, I can just rivet it back on. Bill Boynton that contacted me was from Lippert, guess Kinro is another supplier owned by LCI?

Hey Brad I just received another call from Kinro & she stated that since it's a RW it's covered under warranty. I looked up Kinro web & sent an email to warranty, you may give that a try as your RW is newer than mine.

Yep - my Dealer is already working it, but thought it might be faster through Kinro. Ironically, the coat hanger is working wonderfully Hate to mess up a field repair that works!

AA I had to use a couple of small ty-raps to hold mine shut. Worked great. Dealer has already ordered the part.

Yours too! Uh oh. Do you think yours broke because of how it was aligned?

That seems a reasonable conclusion. Very difficult to open and close. Requires much bending of the arm to accomplish.

I'm glad I bought my Redwood, just wish I would have got the H rated tires, 8K axles and disk brakes from the dealer before buying. I also would have done the lifetime seamless roof. DR Mobile Suites come standard with all the above. The time to deal is from the start.

The roof is rubber on the lower end Mobile Suites, you have to get the Mack daddy to get the roof.

DRV is a rubber roof - or fiberglass on the high end Elite. I don't see where they offer the sprayed on roof, at least in the website.

"mac-daddy" hahah what is that?

I think I saw a new Excel on RVTrader.com that had the Rhino sprayed on roof as an option.

I saw a New Horizons in Silverton CO the other day and I think it had a fiberglass roof.

On a side note - It was probably one of the ugliest rigs I have seen in a while - hate to say. The fiberglass looked like painted filon with no gel coat, and it had more exterior marker lights set in chrome than a carnival ride.
