Shackle Bolts Missing
On our trip back to Canada (from Texas) on Saturday, the shackle bolt on the back spring went missing. The loose spring then busted the rubber brake hose. This is the second time this happens at exactly the same place. Have any of you encountered this problem and if so what you have you done to fix this? All I think about now when pulling this rig is when is another bolt going to go missing. And yes, I keep those well greased.

I would take a different road lol. Ha e you torqued the bolts to their required level.

Are you still using the OEM bolts? If so upgrade to the MorRyde heavy shackles & wet bolts, they come with all new bushings & will actually take grease. Once the original plastic bushings wear out (5000+/- miles) it just metal to metal & the grease goes on the ground.

When I upgraded to the Mor/Ryde shackle kit, the OEM street side rear spring wetbolt fell to the ground in two pieces - split through the grease hole. Upgrade your shackle kit to Mor/Ryde ASAP.

I agree with Danny and Mike 1000%......... I added the Mor/Ryde SRE-4000 and Heavy Duty Shackles Kit 2 years ago. Short of going to the more expensive Mor/Ryde IS suspension, this is one of the best upgrades you can make.

i think I posted pictures of the stock plastic bushings last year. the where completely shot after 2000 miles I upgraded to wet bolt kit and I'm going on 6000miles just checked them last week and the all seem good.

I just completed the upgrade to the SRE 4000 and Heavy duty Shackle Kit What a difference in the way the trailer rides. I also added the Timken bearings and seals and changed out the Trail Air with new Lower Jaw much more confident in our RW now. We are ready for our cross country trip this summer from June through August.

I do not appreciate your humor, I would not wish this on any one pulling this rig with a loose axle and no brakes.

I have 8000 lb axles with an Equa-Flex suspension, is that what you guys replaced. I can clearly see an upgrade to the heavier shackles but not convinced about changing out the Equa-Flex. Any ideas...

I personally went with the centerpoint air bags as well as others have
Very happy with the ride. And 1/2 the price of the moreride IS which replaces the axles. Some have gone with the moreryde 4000 which also replaces the equiflex

I went with the Mor-Ryde 4000 system. Mor-Ryde shakle and wet bolt kit and the Joyrider shock kit. So far I am happy with it. Shane's center point looks like a very nice set up also. I will upgrade to disc brakes at some point but not sure I want to spend the dollars on IS just yet. Time will tell.

I did the same as Steve minus the Joy Rider and it made a big Difference in the ride from the stock Equa-Flex that was on the Trailer.

Great picture Char & Steve!!! I have checking the web for the SRE4000 but they seem to be rated for a 7000 lb axle and can't really seem to get an answer on whether or not they fit. Someone mentioned that the 8000 lb axle has an extra leaf in the spring and that causes an issue.
Actually I do have disk brakes, ordered at build time. I wish I would have known about these suspensions or I would have also upgraded at that time.

The Mor/Ryde SRE-4000 is not compatible with the 8000 lb axles.

The new Redwoods come with 8k axels and MorRyde LRE 4100. I don't know how the "LRE" compares to the "SRE" but it's an option.
