Satellite Booster in 36FL

I'm trying to figure out the satellite configuration for our 36 FL in prep for getting DirecTV satellite hooked up this coming weekend. Someone was kind enough to send me a RW satellite cable run diagram which shows that there is a "Booster" which needs to be switched on for satellite/off for cable.

Does anyone know if I have a booster in my 36FL and if so, where to find it?Someone mentioned it may be above the bedroom TV but not there (at least that I can see).

Any other advice would be much appreciated - i.e.) potential problems that may come up at install.

The booster has nothing to do with the satellite connections. When you turn on the booster, it helps your Over The Air (OTA) TV reception. Turn it off for cable connections. The satellite coaxs are orange. You should have one on each side of the garage, the master TV, and the bedroom TV. There is a round plate on the roof near the back of you RV. Underneith it are the satellite connections and a controller cable for a Winegaurd Traveller or Slimline satellite antenna. Hope this helps. Vic

Edit... while I'm not sure exactly where the antenna boaster is located in a FL, as we have an RL, I believe reading some previous posts it may be in one of the cabinets near the front living area. It should have a green light on if it's on. On our 2012RL it's located above the bedroom TV. Also, run your TV setup for all three, satellite, TV, and cable. You'll need to change your input for both sat, cable, and OTA.

Ian - the booster is in the corner unit at the back of the kitchen, on the door side.

Booster in my 38fb is in the bedroom cabinet to the left of the TV. Turn off for satellite. O for over air broadcast.
The satellite cabling in my 38 FB was all goofed up I reworked it all and use my Directv equip. From the house (DVR & mini reciver) just got a extra swim dish and mounted it on a pole to the ladder. Use the Same account no need to pay extra.

here's a stumper... trying to view network TV through the antenna... reception is great on the small bedroom tv but we get interruptions on the 40" every time a semi drives by and considering we are fairly close to an interstate, this is often. We have checked all coax ends and plates for loose connection... no fix. Even ran a coax from the bedroom wall connect point to the back of the living room tv... no fix. Is the 40 " much more sensitive to over the air disturbance than the small bedroom TV? Is the television at fault?

Is the OTA antenna booster on? If it is run your TV setup again set to antenna, not cable. If it's not that you'll have to find the spittlers and check for the connections there.

It could just be that TV is over sensitive. I've had a hard time getting used to over the air digital - it doesn't get snowy like VHF, it just scrambles or disappears when it has a week signal and something interferes.

Probably no way to tell if its the TV until you get to another location and try it.

We're in Sebring this winter and get locals from Tampa. On at least one of the channels if we turn on the Lights over the counter that channel will freeze and signal drop to zero, but only on the Living room TV. We had a similar issue with our previous Montana, but it had to do with the bathroom fan. Digital signals are really funny and are not the Cat's Meow for RVers. The only Analog signals could be weak, but you could still was a some what snowy picture, but with Digital, it's all or nothing.

Miss those days of rabbit ears and tin foil. Most of us know that simple is and was best.

It is in the kitchen in the hutch. it is a small button on the cable hook up receptacle. We have a 36FL and the only time you have the booster on is when you use the standard antenna. It is not needed with the satellite and do not use it with a cable hook up as it interferes with the cable signal.

Thanks All!

Thanks all for your responses - I haven't been getting email notifications as usual.

For posterity: As we are stuck here for the Winter, we decided to go with a reg. Directv installation instead of a Winnegard or similar model. When we ordered we just emphasized that we needed a "portable" dish and did not want it permanently installed on the unit. When asked, they also said we could just take the dish with us when we move in the Spring and then call to have it recalibrated at new site. This option saved us the $1000.00 - $2000.00 (depending on model/accessories) a Winnegard would have cost. (we will probably get one in the long run)
As per Directv policy he was not able to go to the roof to use those connections so he used the 2 hook-ups in the convenience center - the right one goes to BR and the and left to the LR. He tested the connections in the basement and said the satellite hook-up goes to the BR, not the LR, and does not go from BR to basement as indicated on diagram (which is not specifically for the 36FL). With the help of a cable run diagram and a little experimentation, we were able to get Directv connected to both TVs (LR and BR). We can watch and record different programs on each TV.. The Mini Genie is so small it fits right in behind the BR TV..
At some point we'll prob. get a TV for the basement and will figure that cable run portion when it comes time but for now pretty pleased with how it all worked out.

p.s. the portable dish is on the ground at front of rig facing south
