RV Lock

When we first bought our Redwood a guy by the name of Cade called and walked my wife through resetting the lock late one night (9pm). We were always impressed that this guy worked late in the evening to help us.

Since then I've openly said that my lock doesn't seem to work in the key-less fashion that it was supposed to work although others on this forum have had great success.

Cade called me again after stumbling across my phone number to ask how things were going with the lock. I could only wish other RV suppliers took this much interest in their product. They have now developed a better system and he said he'd offer some sort of discount for those wanting to upgrade their old locks.

If anybody has problems with their locks, I would recommend calling the RV lock company directly. They are now developing some new products for the cargo doors too.

Once again, this forum has saved us! We read to NEVER trust your combo lock on your door by leaving all of your keys IN the trailer. Happened to us already... went out, locked the door, and upon return lock would not open. Luckily had spare keys in the truck as we were advised to do! WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN. After turning the key, it works again. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Todd, I'm sure yours is the Bauer lock, not the RVlock

We have a 36FL so have 2 keyless entries. We have had to replace both and now ordering another front door lock after the replacement didn't work and then died in a puff of smoke. The new locks appear to be better made e.g.) the batteries don't come popping out when the battery cover is removed). I'm not sure why the rear lock failed but know that both front locks seemed to be "catching" on some mechanism inside the lock. It would catch and when I carefully turned the manual lock on the inside of the door there was obvious resistance (like metal on metal). Once the lock was engaged again (deadbolt out), with the door open, the keyless pad would disengage the lock (deadbolt back in). But when I'd try to reengage the lock with the pad, it would only come partially out. When the door was closed and using the keypad, the deadbolt would neither engage or disengage but I could hear that there was some movement. IMHO, there is a mechanical problem rather that an elecrical one. Now, I always have a set of keys outside the RV as, for some reason, I don't trust I'll get back in with the keypad....haha

RV Lock has been great in response. Had the keypad go bad, was eating batteries. They replaced it with no questions asked. Also replaced the key fob that wouldn't sync, again no questions asked. So far with the new keypad in place and the fobs working, haven't had any problems. I would be interested in future products. Have considered upgrading to the integrated door handle, keypad lock as well.

After getting locked out and our Bauer keyless not working I ordered four extra door keys from Bauer. Much cheaper than the locksmith

So is Rv Lock upgrading existing locks as mine now doesn't work with the fobs & I took the battery out of the pad long ago because every time it gets wet it won't work, just beeps constantly, til I remove the battery a dry it out. Should I call?

I have the Bauer and neither of them work... I keep a spare set of keys locked in one of those Realtor Lock Boxes that's screwed to my portable steps we setup everywhere we go.

travelin' texans, yes, give RV Locks a call, first rate and care about their products. I have a new keypad and one new fob after mine went bad. As for the door lock itself, once I replace the batteries, I put a small bead of silicone along the seam, so far the batteries are holding up, and we leave our door open almost all the time (lexan on the screen door).

Thank Radio Flyer, already emailed & got a response. It's not the door handle that gets wet it's the key pad, washing or rain & it's full of water & no way to seal it that I can see.

They did something to the keypad they sent me, it seals almost perfectly, no water or battery shorting out. We will see how long it lasts.

We have the Bauer Keyless Locks too, neither of them work.

I can get them to work every now and then but for the most part they do not work.

Our Bauer lock works every time....

except when we need to use it

ONLY use the key for the deadbolt, no interest in locking the handle lock,
especially since it locks by turning the OPPOSITE of the deadbolt lock and what seems 'natural' !

Its kind of ridiculous really. It's not like mobile electronics just got it's start. You'd think they'd figured this one out by now!

I've read about the lock problems and decided to only use the key. No need for a keypad. Keys may be old school & low tech, but work every time.
