Our Bauer lock has been replaced once, still a pain in the ass. Sorry for being blunt.

It didn't say that on the instruction sheet...I tried everything to lock it and unlock it and nothing
Will try and see if it works, otherwise like I said will go on the list...I still haven't seen the awning opened yet let alone lock it...lol

On the new locks there's a sticker on the back of the lock (inside of door) that gives this shortcut.

Markw,
How old is your lock? I replaced ours this summer under warranty directly from Bauer as they were both (we have 2 doors) very unreliable. The new locks they sent me physically were the same dimensions but were completely different. The new ones were completely metal and very reliable. Been using keyless entry only for the last 3 months and it hasn't missed a beat. Before the new locks it would never work, period, even if it had new batteries and was just reprogrammed.

Our trailer is a 13 and has the plastic lock. At best it works 60% of the time. When the batteries are changed, I have to put our code back in. I don't want a remote but would like a reliable key pad.

Call Bauer directly. They have great customer service. They never even asked how old my rig was or even who was the manufacturer.

I just wrote to them about mine. Mine works great, except...when the door slams the batteries pop out of the cover and the code goes to default. Not real secure with the default code hanging out there.

The new version has better 'holding clamps' around the batteries...
that's what was wrong with my original one... the batteries were basically bowing out and losing contact...

the new one has worked well... but the locking shortcut didn't work on mine this afternoon guess I'll have to strain and hit four numbers instead of two to lock it !

We might have to do this again when we get to Florida in Jan. Our trailer is there but unfortunatly we are still in Ohio. The lock would wake but not otherwise function when we left. I didn't want to try new battries till we go back.

Anyone have issues getting into the fw with the keys?

I was in and out of it this morning, came home this evening and can't get in. The latch key opens, the dead bolt key turns and you can feel the bolt moving, but the door won't budge.

A question. When you closed the door, was the screen door already closed then you closed the outer? We have had our door catch and not want to open sometimes, if they aren't latched together before closing.

I have no idea what is happening.

Ours locked us out several times. We called Bauer, told them what happened and they sent a new lock to us right away.

A feature of the Bauer lock is that it will beep when the batteries are running down and only ten openings are left.

Unfortunately, my hearing isn't what it was when I was young.

I keep a hidden key just in case.

When our Bauer Batteries went dead I did not hear the beeping either, the keypad numbers started to blink when entering the code.
Replaced the batteries, re-entered our code, good to go.

Our Bauer was over-torqued by factory upon installation... Bauer said just loosen the screws a bit and I did...worked fine ever since!!

This thread was very helpful and I have already replaced one front lock but still has a few issues even after I did cut the striker hole deeper to accommodate the deadbolt that would not engage all the way. Rear lock is hopeless so today I was ready to just order two new locks from RV lock and just get this over with instead of dealing with Red Wood or my dealer. I decided to first email Bauer to see what their thoughts were and explained my problems.
I didn't expect any kind of reply soon or to ever see a new lock.
Well..... here we are on Sunday and a holiday weekend and it wasn't even two hours and I had a reply. I never expected this!
They asked me for some mailing address info and they will have two new locks on the way to me on Tuesday along with a prepaid label to send the old ones back to them.
I could not ask for any better service then this. I will let you know how it turns out and I hope this may end my lock problems.

Steve

Steve, just a word of caution. While both RV Lock and Bauer fit in the same cutout, the door was painted with the locks in place and the RV Lock's overall footprint is smaller resulting in a base paint area around the RV Lock. Don't ask me how I know this.
