Rookie Mistake

After 3 years and 50,000 miles, I still had another rookie mistake in me!
Pulling out of a Flying J RV Fuel Island in Memphis, I had to make a hard left, forgetting where the right rear of the trailer was. After some self tappers and Gorilla Tape I made it to Knoxville. Now what?
Thinking I need to make a trip to Elkhart to get this repaired. Can't imagine freight on a rear cap

That can be fixed... Just be glad it did not happen on another persons vehicle... I had a rookie moment while out in Indiana at the KZ factory... Mine cost me a rear cap also.... It hurt inside knowing it happened. .

Yikes! That really sucks. Always have 20 things on your mind already and forgetting about the tail swing. Maybe to Topeka, IN for the service center or the plant. Wishing you good luck for a speedy repair.

So sorry for your bad fortune. We all make mistake no matter how careful we are. Yes, if I was you I would take it to the service center in Topeka, In. Call and see what they say. I would prefer not to have a dealer repair it.

Sorry to hear that Ron. I would definitely contact the Redwood Service Center about repairs. My experience with dealers has not been positive. The Service Center people are great and would do a fantastic repair job. Hope you are able to get in real soon and get things back to normal.

Sorry about the mishap Ron. I had a smiliar thing happen last year. I was pulling out of a tight space at the Camping World in Denton TX...had to make a sharp turn and took a mirror off a MH. I guess we all have all had "one of those days". Hope your repairs goes smoothly.

Sorry........ I know how sick you must feel. Been there, done that with my last 5er (tail swing fiasco) pulling out of my dealers pkg lot...... took out the side of someone's parked car. I'm sure all will be well with the repair(s) & you'll be good as new. Best of luck my friend.

Ron sorry to hear that. I've done it twice in the past 25 years, although not as bad. In fact I hit the back lower panel 6 weeks ago on and electric pedestal. Always feels bad but once fixed all will be better.

Ron, my sympathies. If it makes you feel better, I hit a pole last month. But then, I really am a rookie.

I actually hit the building with my Montana pulling out to take it to the body shop for some work Keystone was paying for as factory issues. I didn't even look back or stop. Turned out they were able to buff out all the damage on mine.

Ron, what direction are you traveling? I'm sitting in Pelham, AL waiting for a Mobile RV repair . No trailer brakes! Factory disk brakes with Cargo HydraStar Actuator. Bummer on your rear cap damage...ouch!

Let me join the group...
A few years ago, I was towing a 12' 8"' Holiday Rambler 5th wheel to Myrtle Beach. My old nav took me on to an auto-only parkway in NY at 65mph with an 12' 0" tunnel the first mile. Cleaned the roof of the ACs, solar panels & satellite dish. The State Police escorted me off the parkway and I spoted the next tunnel which said "Clearance 10.5ft"!

No. Bought the RW some years later, but this one is taller and longer. I don't rely on my nav quite so much any more - especially when looking for fuel near metro areas...

Ouch, Ron. My verbal reaction to those photos contained words not appropriate for the forum. As others have said, so long as you're okay, that's what counts. And thank goodness for insurance.
