Roof separation problem

Noticed a bubble on the roof as my husband traveled down the road behind me. When we called the insurance company they said it sounded like a separation of the membrane and was not covered. Anyone have experience with this? What did you do? Thanks!

You said your unit is a 2013 in a prior Email. Is it possible you are still under the 2 year warranty?? Is it also possible the roof has a longer warranty?? Or close enough that maybe RW would do something. This sounds like a glue or install issue seeing as you are not the first to have this problem. I would give it a shot. Even if you had to travel to the plant to get it done. Good Luck....

No, we are not under the warranty and even the extended warranty we purchased will not cover it which really disappointed us.

Did you purchase the fifth wheel new? If so that Redwood should have a 2/5 year warranty. I thought the5 year was a structure warranty. I thought structure meant anything Redwood puts together. I think the roof might be covered.

Can you cancel the extended warranty and get your money back? If we cancel ours in the first two years we can get 95% back because of the 2yr Manufacturing warranty. That might help in the cost to have the roof repaired. I would also want to see where it says the roof is not covered under the extended warranty. I would get the dealer you purchased the RW from involved to get this repaired

It is by L J Lockwood the president of Alpha Roof he states at the 2015 Redwood Rally they sell the "complete system" glue and all. The roof is guaranteed 12 years. the name of the U-tube is "redwood rally 2015 -Alpha Roof Maintenance". Was sure I saw some where that these roofs were guaranteed for more than 2 years..Hope this helps..

I would agree with Rick. This roof issue should be covered under the 5 year warranty that now Redwood claims was worthless. I would make several phone calls on this problem.

They told us the material is guaranteed for 12 years, but not the installation! Our 2 year warranty ran out in August according to the factory.

Your rig is grandfathered to the 5 year structural warranty. It would be easy to call this a structural issue in a legal situation. I think Id' be talking with those folks who make $200 and hour in fancy offices.

In my opinion, when Redwood changed from the 5 year structural warranty.....this was the type of situation that they were trying to avoid.

The material is only as good as the knucklehead that installed, not your fault he was having a bad day. I agree with Dave, lawyers need to be involved.

I agree with Dave. When those fifth wheels were sold to us they came with a 5 year structural warranty. They don't now, but they did then and I believe this would be structural. I would contact the Redwood General Manager and explain the situation to him and see if you get results. If not, then I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and try to at least arbitrate the solution. I realize that if the General Manager does not want to help you then you will need to rectify the issue as soon as possible. Keep all records, receipts, e-mails and documented conversations for possible reimbursement later. Good luck. Redwood has stepped up to the plate in the past, let's see what they do here.

Contact your insurance company about a bad roof. One of the members here had a problem and the ins. co. ended up putting a new roof on his Redwood.

Insurance company said they don't cover the roof. We have All State which up til now has been fantastic.

Does it bother anyone else that Redwood had a 2/5 year warranty and now has only one year? What does that say about the company/product? We were considering going to a 39 BR , but now I'm not sure what we should do.

Have you taken the roof to an RV roofing company to see what the cost will be to have it repaired? As much as it sucks, for me it would be upsetting at first then as the reality set in, I might be a blessing. I would look into the rhino-liner type roofing or another 30 year roof. A real one, not some crap RV roofing save some weight thin skimpy product, but a real one. It is funny how commercial truck industry can have a roof on a trailer for 30 years and it gets slammed into tree limbs at freeway speed and nobody is caulking them every year, but the RV industry can't seem to have a roof on ANY RV last more than 2 years with out a leak.
