Slow Rise Roller Shade Brackets
We just returned from a trip out West with our 2013 36FB and the rear shades were also on the floor. All three of the brackets had the little plastic "finger' near the spring broken. I called the customer service number and got Crossroads. The gentleman was very helpful and sent me the part # (232434) but said that he couldn't send me the replacement brackets and that I would have to get it through an "authorized dealer".
The dealer that I purchased it from new was Camping World and they are not nearby. Can anyone tell me who to speak with to get Redwood/Crossroads to just send me the brackets. I think that adding a couple more brackets is a good idea to prevent this from happening again.

Contact Irvine Shade Co. & they will send them to you free, great customer service, I just got them sent to me about a month ago & have been out of warranty for almost a year.

We also travel with the shades up for the same reason, and lower them as needed once we arrive at out destination.
I wonder if traveling with them down would cause the bracket failures?

Shades down. Not as hot in trailer during travel

OK , so far we have the following:
3 travel with them down
2 travel with them up...........wait... I travel with mine UP
3 travel with them up..
And my decision was based on all the time I travel down the road following big trailers with big windows in the rear.. We always say , WOW look at those curtains , blinds. ect. swinging away ! ! ! ! That cant be good for the brackets ?? Yup , you guessed it , it was a guess ! !

I always travel with the shade down to keep the heat out and to help prevent sun fading. All the miles I towed our Redwood, I never had problems with the shades. Even in our bus we travel with the shades down.

Dave ,
no issues with the brackets ?? or with the shades coming down ? They were my concerns... I have always had pleated shades before this and they were mounted top and bottom so no worries there,...

We have traveled with the shades down, but during the journey most seem to roll back up on their own from the vibrations. So, now I roll them all up before traveling.

My 2012 36RL had different shades. Mine were "pleated" so there was a difference.....no I never had an issue with the brackets.

* Keep in mind that trailers or towed vehicles have the tendency to bounce and the long over hang of the Redwoods seem to make the rear of the trailer bounce even more. That’s why it’s hard to find bike carriers that are warranted for the rear of trailers. Since the rear shades are at the rear of the trailers, they experience a lot of stress on the brackets and mechanisms.
Even my truck bounces behind the MH where if it were driven, it would simply run over the bumps.

I think it apparently makes a difference as to which types of window shades are being used. We have the pleated shades in our 2012 36RL and have always traveled with them down to provide some additional isolation from the sun. We have never had a problem. The newer models, starting around 2014/2015, have a different type of window shade and it seems most folks have better results if they travel with the shades up.
