Recliner and Couch Separating at Seam

My 5th wheel is now slightly over 2 years with probably 8 camping trips under its belt. On the last trip I noticed that the 2 recliners and couch are all separating at the seams. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Gene

One of my "faux" leather recliners started to have the material start to flake. It was replaced under warranty. The second one is going bad now, well out of warranty. The couch is fine. I guess it is just cheap furniture.

Just need to vent

I agree with you on the "faux" leather. I looked under the furniture to find the manufacturer and it's Lippert Furniture made in China. I am so disgusted and embarrassed by the appearance of such little used furniture. Now I'm to the point of throwing it into the trash and replacing it. Thanks Lippert

They must change supplies on a weekly or monthly basis. Ours are 3 years old and used between 9 & 10 months a year to live in and still it great shape, no flaking or split seams.

Last time I checked, Lippert is located in Goshen, Indiana and not China. Maybe the fiber filling or fabric is made in China but the furniture isn't.

Our 2014 Redwood's furniture was Williamsburg Furniture. It held up well but the brand used before in 2012 did not as I had seen some where the fabric just came apart in flakes.

Mine was built in September 2011 and has been lived in full time for nearly 3 years. I just now had one of the recliners starting to crack and flake. But I must say it is not the most comfortable furniture. I will look for replacements this year but will try to steer away from RV furniture.

It is interesting why there is so much variation from unit to unit over the years. Ours is a 2012 36RL (built in Sept. 2011). Our average use has been around 3 to 4 months per year over the past 6 years. So far no evidence of flaking on the fake leather. Our biggest complaint is that the recliner chairs are just not very comfortable.

The early recliners did not recline all the way, I remember that. That and the change to pull shades over day-night was one of the reasons we decided to order rather than buy a lot unit.

Interesting I'm currently experiencing the same issue with one of my recliners and have sent an email to Williamsburg Furniture the manufacturer of the chair. The 1st response was of course "It's out of warranty". The 2nd attempt I did receive a phone call from Williamsburg Furniture and the way it was explained to me was it's the Mill who provided the fabric material. As the individual explained the Mill cuts a direct deal with Redwood to provide specific fabric or material to cover the furniture with, all Williamsburg does is assembles the final product. It's my understanding from my conversation with Williamsburg apparently there have been some issues with the material "Hide Out Coffee". I have not contacted Redwood about this thus far to see what they would have to say. Are there perhaps other Redwood owners out there experiencing the same issue? My unit is the 2014 36RL.

Lippert Furniture Tag

I did reach out to Lippert regarding the separation. This is the only furniture tag I could find. Note: Made in China

We have a late 2014 38GK Redwood, nand our recliners are flaking and cracking already. Our unit is used infrequently and cannot believe this is happening!

Lambright Seating

When we were at the RW Rally last year we stopped by the Lambright store south east of Shipshewana. Lambright is an Amish furniture manufacturer that specializes in high quality RV furniture. We had looked at their shop the year before and had loved the furniture, but the wallet was a little lite at the time!
We found the RW factory recliners very uncomfortable and a pain to get out of. We picked out a thrift shop near the camp ground and gave them our recliners and returned to Lambright where they installed the theater seating unit with 2 recliners and a center console. We love the unit!
If I could have figured out how to get the sofa out I would have replaced it, too. We don't use it that much, so it isn't a big deal.
Lambright does ship their furniture but a lot of it is sold right there to RV owners. They have a payphone in the parking lot and that is where they answer the phone. They have a catalog, but you may have to call them to get it. No web site.

+1 on Lambright..

They shipped me a end table that has a shelf and the lid lifts for remotes. It is great quality and matches very well.
