Redwood installs the slide awnings to Carefree's specs, I added about 1 1/2 Inches to Carefree's specs to get the pitch I was looking for.
I have seen this done by several dealer installed slide awnings and after talking to the owners, they have not have any issues with installing the awnings with more pitch.
I think part of the reason for the Carefree spec is if the spec was higher, in those cases where you do not have enough wall height to raise the pitch they would not fit because of the higher mounting spec.
