Paint Weather Checking

We have 2015 tan & burgundy 39MB. We were in a bad hail storm last August. All 4 roofs, all J Panels, both fenders and most plastic had to be replaced.

In the Burgundy paint you can see what I call impact breaks in the paint. Very hard to see in the lighter colors as the breaks look white. I requested the front cap and the left side be repainted because of the breaks in the paint. The front and left side took the hits from the largest hail. The insurance company and the painters have decided the breaks are from sitting in the AZ heat each winter. The right side does not have these breaks in the paint. We have had it washed and waxed twice a year by the same guys since we bought it new. So it is not from not waxing it.

Google pulls up a YouTube video of motorhomes that have similar looking breaks. They claim it is common on 10-15 year old RV's. And some motorhomes had to have the side walls replaced dues to bad fiberglass.

My question to those that have older RW's, Is your paint still looking good or do you have breaks in your dark paint?

Thanks for your input
Rick

2012 Redwood 31SL painted Black & Tan full body paint with Sikkens paint. Still looks perfect and zero checking. Stored outside year round without cover.

We have a very early 2016 (like March 2015) 39MB That sits in the Florida Sun for 6 to 7 months each year and just survived a Florida Hail Storm in early April. Cracked the shower sky lite, stove vent, dented the J Panel and Furnace door, destroyed both awning all three slide topers, and the bedroom window awning, but no cracks in the paint. Ours is the Black & Maroon paint.
