When I replaced the cheap bathroom fan went with the Maxxair and the IIs for covers. Almost two years now without an issue. The do hit a little, but aren't causing any issues. Just as Dave said, we leave the vents open when we leave it.

That would be the best part. I always worry they wouldn't close if just relying on the rain sensor.

The picture in my signature has a neat story behind it. We wrapped it up, left for the next couple weeks and two hours later the better half said "I think I left the vent in the bathroom up." This is the non Maxxair fan. It started raining. I had taken that picture to use for my signature. Pulled it up on the iPad and zoomed in on the roof to see if the cover was up. It wasn't thank goodness.

We have the MAXAIR vent covers on all 4 of our from day one. Livingroom, Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom. Its nice to be able to leave them open in the pouring rain. plus with 4 vents we can really pull some air or reverse the fans and push it out the windows. Real easy to install and they do have a hinge so you can open them to one side so you can get in there and clean out the fan if you have too.

Same as the one Johnboytoo has pictured. They are the Fan mate fan roof covers by Maxair. You can get them in white or black. I chose black to match the ac covers. I wanted something that I can have open when it is pouring out or I can open in the winter and not be blocked by the snow build up.

Wow, such great information. I am going to order the maxx II and hope for the best. They make a HUGE difference in the livability of the coach... IF they are able to be opened!! The rain sensors work TOO WELL on ours! If there is a little sprinkle, it's an hour or two before they can be opened again!

If your vents are like ours, the holes are already there and have little plastic plugs in them. Push them out and the covers match right up. I don't think it took but about 15 mins to install.

I'm thinking the fantastic vent in the kitchen is located at the highest point of the RV so does placing the cover over it result in an increase in the overall height of 13'2"? Just wondering.

Not sure which covers we have but they are white to allow light in. We have a max fan in the kitchen and it does not hit the cover.

I need to measure for sure, but I would imagine maybe an inch or two. The new height would be with the cover open basically. I wonder if anyone has measured yet?

Was just looking at our profile - A cover on the bedroom fan would push our height up quite a bit. However our last rig was 13' 3" because of the front AC, so not a big deal to get used to.

We have "Vent Mates" on all three Maxxfans and the bath fan. Dealer installed with no labor charge at PDI. They are black to match a/c covers. The Maxxfan tops out on the covers, but doesn't seem to interfere. Height is lower than the front a/c.

Steve and Linda, thanks, thats good to know that the front a/c is still the high point. Wasn't sure if the cover was slightly higher than that front a/c.

Our bathroom is the highest, and YES it would have to... hmmm. Well, that's worth considering too.

I know pictures are deceiving, but it looks like your front vent is higher than the front AC

When I was installing my Maxxair ll covers, I noticed the vent wouldn't open all the way. I e-mailed them and was told the fan senses the contac pressure and stops.

I just got on the roof and laid down eyelevel in front of the bedroom vent cover, and it is lower than the a/c cover from that perspective. On the picture the bath fan cover is closer to the curbside than the a/c, that might be why it appears taller.

I wish I could get better pictures but my phone and laptop don't get along and won't share.
