We recently had the queen bed replaced in our 2012 36 FL for a king. The queen mattress (don't recall brand) was very comfortable and had a light brown top. The king mattress our dealer put in is an Ortho Rest that is hard as a brick. The wife has a sore neck! They are supposed to be checking to see if this is the mattress RW is using now. Anyone else have this type mattress? If not what kind is supposed to come in RW now?

Thanks,

Neal

I'm not sure what kind they use now. We switched over to the sleep number bed

Neal - We have a RW supplied King and I don't recall seeing a label on the mattress, but it is light brown and rather on the soft side. We use a 2" memory foam topper and have found the combination reasonably comfortable.

Have to remember to fold the foam topper away from the bottom of the bed before closing the sides

Our Sleep Number was the first item moved from the Montana into the RW.

We had a mattress that came in a box at Costco in our TT. It has gel and memory foam and is about 12" thick. It cost around $500. We moved it into our Redwood first thing. It's the most comfortable bed we've ever had.

The only problem we've had with the sleep number bed is when we go to different elevations we have to adjust the pressure. We thought it was going to explode at one point but it never did.

We were all prepared to replace the bed, or install a memory foam top (kept from our last rig). So far, we are happy with what came with the RW as stock.

We've spent thousands of dollars over the last how many years attempting to find the king bed that my wife and I can call a keeper. We also have to keep our three Bernese Mountain dogs happy as well. We love our RW king so much, I'm thinking of tearing it out of the coach and bringing it into the house. Best sleep we're ever had...anywhere...no kiddin'.

So far, our RW queen has been rather surprisinglycomfortable. But then, we only have a 6 lb. Chihuahua that shares our bed.

X2 on the Redwood Queen mattress. We were assuming we'd be replacing it on Week 1, but were surprised how comfortable it was. Maybe not for full-timers, but certainly comfortable enough for weekenders like us...

We just replaced the king mattress in our 36RL with a select comfort. The original mattress was ok, and we slept on it for almost a year, but we had a select comfort queen that we used in our last two rv's and we also had one when we had the house, so we knew we'd eventually get one for the Redwood.

Wow, first rv I've ever heard that people like the stock mattress we wouldn't know though...We've moved a memory foam from rv to rv for years...and did the same with the redwood !

Told the dealer don't take the plastic off the stock king in our 38gk since we knew we weren't going to sleep on it at all --- it's in the storage shed out back right now...

Having the same mattress in the house and the rv makes for an easy transition !

We put a select comfort king in ours also. Had a queen in our previous camper but since the RW as a king had to get a new one.

Ok, so here is my question. Since the Redwoods come with a European type of foundation, how and what mods were necessary to put the sleep number bed in? I have queen size in my 31sl.

We originally just put our Sleep Number on top of the European Box Springs, but once we finally got home (We traded units while SnowBirding) I purchased some 3/4" Luan removed the European setup and installed the Luan, screwing it in place with the same screws as was originally used. With a Queen you may be able to get by with 1/2' or 5/8" as you won't have as much hanging over the edge of the frame as our King.
