I have 30# tanks and the drivers side was leaky from the factory. I actually didn't notice the leak until the tank went flat. I filled it up and when I turned it back on immediately started smelling the LP leak. Service fixed it and so far no leak issues.

Interested thing though I bought 2 pressure gauges to try to give me some indication how much is in the bottle. 2 nights ago it was really cold and the furnace ran practically all night. I started the night w/ 1 bottle reading 1/2 and the other full and in the morning @ 42F outside temp the 1/2 full one was empty and the other read 1/2. I was surprised that we burned that much LP overnight until it warmed back up and the one that started the night reading full came back to about full.

Happy ending except now I know temperature really effects the pressure gauges. Wish I had a more reliable way to measure the contents other then the brut force take the tank out and weigh it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Where did you place your order? Also, let us know how it fits once you install it.

Weight is the only real was to measure LP tanks, but with them being secured like they are, it's futile to have it be any kind of quick glance thing.

An inventor should come up with a floating rack that secures the cylinder but also allows it to be supported by a weight scale that reads out digitally inside at the control center.

So many ideas, so little time (ok, so little money I mean)

I tried the little invention for measuring propane in the bottle and it didn't work for us...
and please note that it is no longer offered on Amazon - which gives you a hint

Serious! Did you lose money? That's a big reason I never try some of that stuff.

LP & natural gas do have an odor before odorant(ethyl mercapton) is added, but not readily recognized, the odorant smells like a skunk farting rotten eggs.

Ah, I jumped to a conclusion that you invented something and it didn't do well on the market - sorry. Happened to another friend so thought maybe you tried as well.

I ordered it from Amazon. It wasn't prime but I'm lazy and tire of dealing with RV Parts house prices.

Update, the part shown below is the exact part I ordered through Amazon (but paid nearly $35 for...). It replaced the existing Propane regulator perfectly. It is definitely a higher quality part, although it is not stamped where it's made...

So many things, so little time.....

Finally got a chance to weigh an empty bottle and it's 25# totally flat. Full it's 55# so the 30# actually works out. I do have a small hand held scale that would allow me to take the bottle out find out the exact contents, but that seems all too much work.

So far a second full bottle has been more than enough to get me to the next fill spot and I hope that trend continues.

No doubt a gauge based on weight would be perfect and I'm sure we all haven't been the first to come up with the idea. Making it work and financing the production and marketing is a whole other issue.

Trying to stay warm as winter approaches.......

Sorry...Weber Grills has already come up with that system. It's pretty cool, actually. It would be a great feature, considering the alternatives.

I just had my 30# tanks filled. When reconnecting the tanks, I opened the valve to the right side (curb side) tank where the red KLI International single stage LP regulator is located. I immediately started noticing the LP odor and with further checking discovered the red regulator was leaking.

Went to Amazon and placed an order for a Marshall 130139 30 PSI single stage regulator and a Cavagna (91-1-490-1127B) 30 PSI Single-Stage High Pressure Regulator. Just thought I would try a different brand to have on hand as a backup. Also ordered a Cavagna (52-A-890-0006B) Auto Changeover Two Stage Regulator Kit just to have it on hand for when the original two stage regulator fails. In the past year, I have already replaced both pigtails and now the single stage regulator has failed.

Hope that all works out well Guy! I have always been a faithful follower of Marshall Brass, but I read in an article while looking for that red valve that they sold out and are now imported.

Not sure if its true, but it would be consistent

My driver side LP leaked like a sieve from the factory. Service in Indiana before the rally fixed it up. Luckily only cost me a tank of propane.

I never can ignore the smell of LP even if its from the camp site next to me.
