We have had a problem with our living room passenger side slide banging as it goes out and in, getting out of alignment, and the back end doesn't go out all the way. It looks as if the slide mechanism teeth aren't catching, the bar that rotates between the two gears is out of round, and the teeth and gear are slipping. We are still on the road and headed home.

Has anyone had this problem and any suggestions on how we can deal with it until we can get it to the dealer?

We had a similar problem with our kitchen slide. I had to sit on the counter while my wife extended the slide or it would jam. Talk about teamwork. You need to fix that a.s.a.p.

Our living room slide does not go in all the way. It has been two support brackets. We are scheduled for factory service next month.

The banging noise may be coming from the bar hitting the rear steal jack support fixture. Other than using a cutting torch, there is not much that can done, except wearing down either the 1/4" steal or the square bar.

Re the electric slide, if this is out of line, you need to locate the two controllers and unplug the offending controller and then operate the slide until it is square, then plug the controller back in. Once it is, run the slide in and run it back in three times just one inch. This resets the controllers. On our RL the controllers are located in the garage near the convenience center entrance on the top shelf behind the netting.

Well it got worse. We were in the Elkhart area when this was going on, but unfortunately the service center couldn't get us in (said October was the earliest they could get to us) so we continued on our trip to Branson. Banged all the way out in Branson, but when we tried to pull the slide back in the alignment was off so bad the rear section of the dining room slide's trim caught on the stationary parts and pulled off, tore off one of the cabinet door handles and knocked another cabinet door out of alignment. The front of the slide pulled in too far and the rear was sticking out.

This time we talked to Ron Howard at Redwood, who helpfully explained how we could shut off one of the hydraulic valves to keep that slide from cycling. So we limped home with 4" of the slide sticking out in the rear. We will take to to our local dealer (they say it will be two-three weeks before they can get to it) and go from there. Luckily we have a home in Austin and a reason to be there for about 3-4 months. Hope the dealer and Redwood can get this problem fixed. Not much use if they can't.

service center appointments are 2 months out??? We want our annual inspection, due in Feb, done at the service center wonder if we should schedule it soon to ensure a spot! Yes?

If you know your schedule, I would absolutely set it up now. But the annual inspection isn't required to be at the service center--our dealer did it. But if you can do it at the Service Center they can probably fix anything that shows up on the inspection.

Our experience too is that winter months there is rarely a wait for any RV repair facility--most people aren't traveling in the winter up to Elkhart. They are happy to have the work.

Have the same problem with my living room slide banging. It even drags the linoleum leaving a mark on it. Have a appt. in October to take it to service center.
