I have a question. We're considering buying a Redwood with the Lippert 6 point leveling system. Does anyone have experience with it specifically leveling on uneven sites? We do considerable dry camping and we were wondering how it would handle this. Thank you, Len

Where I am parked I have the left tires on two 2x8's and four inches of blocks under the foot pads on the left side. The rig levels just fine. One thing to remember is carry blocks because you will need them to keep from over extending your foot pads which will cause you not to level or you will get the popping sound fron your struts.

The leveling system is actually pretty limited on what it can correct by itself without blocks. You get an overstroke if it can't reach. You will get used to what the limit is, and you'll know ahead of time when you need to use blocks before you unhook.

Ours will overstroke in the street in front of our house, and even overstroked at a State campground on concrete the other day. When we used blocks on the low side it was happy to level the rig with the curbide tires clean off the ground! Love that system!!

While not without some problems it is an excellent system.

I've gotten into the habit of always using at least 1 pad under each jack and putting them in place takes the most time. Once you press the auto level expect an audience as the coach moves front/back and side to side.

Have had numerous people stop what they were doing to come and watch the operation.

After the first few campgrounds I had it figured out how many pads to use to get it level on the first attempt. Great system and user friendly.

Brad, do you get this message because the jacks are being totally extended or are you getting it under normal circumstances? I've parked at a few uneven sites, but never have seen this message. My pads are only 1"

I get it because they are totally extended. Once I put a pad or two under them, it levels fine. It's usually the side to side it is trying to correct that does it.

I experienced the same message when out front of the house. The road camber was sufficient to fully extend the low side jacks

So, should we purchase and install 'high heels' for the system ?

Seems like the system should be able to figure that out on its own IMHO

7 out of 10 times it works great, 2 of the others, had to work with it, 3rd time scared the me sh*tless. DRIVER front "OUT OF STROKE, Passenger front grounded out. Passenger rear never came out. I was terrified. Took almost an hour to get back on truck. Slept with RV mounted to truck. Next 3 times, worked great. Last time grounded out both front jacks. Then it worked ok.

I have been using our six point leveling system for about 9-months. It is better than food!! Hooking up and unhooking is a breeze. The system remembers where the unhook height was and returns to that setting when ready for hooking up. I still check the 5th wheel plate to skid plate position prior to backing in. It has always been spot on. The dealer also mentioned that the system could be used to lift the RV up to change tires. Hopefully I will not have to test that concept.

I do check and service the legs following the recommended maintenance and hopefully will have many years of trouble free operation. It's amazing how much debris, including large stones collect on the leveling leg ground pads.

Wow, my husband got so many wonderful responses to his inquiry regarding the leveling system. As far as I can tell, there isn't a single complaint against the Redwoods. Are we right? Thanks for all the input! Len

Our 2013 Redwood 36FL is our fourth RV. By far it is the best built and most trouble free given our previous RV's were also rated in the top tier. Our new Redwood, our recently built new home and recently purchased two autos all have had some some issues. Having no heat in the dead of winter or no A/C during a heat wave are big issues for most of us at home or RV'ing.

As an retired electrical engineer I work on keeping little issues from moving into the huge problem column when possible however humans build most everything on a RV, home or auto so problems can occur. I have read some flaming reports on Redwoods while others, me included really believe we have purchased a quality RV.

Keeping the maintenance up to date, communicating clearly with the RV dealer have been helpful to us over the years. We accept that things could go wrong with our RV, autos or home and have general plans in place to deal with whatever comes along.

Our Redwood has had several small issues however the dealer was all over them and made professional corrections. We really enjoy our Redwood.

It's all what you want to make it. If you count every loose screw you will hate it. (after all, the Dad cabinet is for tools!).
