Leaving camper

Guys, the wife and I along with our 13 year old mini-pin are going to be leaving our current location in Northern Minnesota in a few weeks. We’re going to Oklahoma and Texas for threes to four weeks. We’re going to be leaving our camper in place as we’re going to be coming back here for several more months. So? Leave the heated water hose hooked up? Close black and gray tanks or open? I am thinking leaving gas heat on like 62? The extreme cold temperatures are pretty much over with here in Northern Minnesota ( snow is practically all melted).Thank for any suggestions!

Here's my opinion!
Apparently you don't want to winterize?
Will the shore power stay on or off?
Disconnect the water hose & put it away.
Close drain valves, disconnect hose & put it away.
Turn off & drain the water heater.
Open the low point drains & all the inside faucets & leave them open.
Remove anything that a surprise freeze could damage.
DO NOT leave the furnace on!! If it had to run several times you'd be out of propane, have dead batteries & too much risk of something to go wrong with no one around.
If heat is necessary & shore power will be connected use an oil filled radiator type electric heater that has a thermostat on it, they are much safer than the other heater types.
Don't know what your plans maybe about the fridge contents, but if it were me I'd turn it off, remove contents & prop the doors open.
The first week in March & winter pretty much over in northern Minnesota? I've been to the Michigan UP & had snow the 1st week in June! Plan for the worst & hope for the best!!!

Prepare for the worse and accept the better..

IGF you do not want to winterize with the pink stuff, I would at least use air and "blow out" all of the water lines after draining standing water... I would also drain water heater.. disconnect ALL hoses, including sewer... IF fridge needs to be on, so be it.... BUT if not, unplug, turn off battery switch and close slides.


There is no way I would leave an RV UN WINTERIZED in Minnesota in March...

I would do what others have advised and i would pour the pink stuff down all drains and in toilet no reason to take a chance of freezing and cracking plumbing.

As Joe mentioned to use the battery disconnect, but I'd recommend disconnect the negative cable that goes directly to ground from that battery, otherwise you'll probably have dead batteries when you return due the parasitic drains the disconnect doesn't disconnect.
