Ladder Storage

I want to take along an 8' step ladder and it won't fit very well in the basement.
Has anyone designed, built, carried their ladder under the frame ?? Thinking about to the rear of the spare tire so as not to drag it. Drag it meaning, was originally thinking of putting it in crossways back by the rear hitch.

I have been looking at the Littlle Giant ladders, Looks like it could be stored in front or in the basement, They are pricey but Lowes has some different makes fo less thsn half the monry.I think the multi function ladders is just what I want to take along.

have been researching the telescoping ladders. Looks like the choice for me. They will take up little space in the basement and you can purchase different qualities and strengths. CA little pricey but what in RV land isn't?

Harbor Freight has the multi function ladders less than Lowes, I've had one for several years & in my case it fits nicely under my truck toolbox, put it on a piece of 1/2" stall mat so it doesn't rattle. I also have the telescopic ladder in the basement, it's great also, but not as versatile.

We got one similar to these

my problem with most of them though, is the weight limits

I mounted mine using a rack from Camping World. It worked best mounting it upside down so the tail lights were visible. I just 3 bungie cords to secure it to the factory ladder.

I have a Werner Ladder that is similar to the little Giant. It will extend up to 22' when stored it is about 5.5' long fits perfect in the storage bay.

I've carried a 17ft little Giant for the last 5 years. I think it's a great ladder.

You could buy 3-4 of the Harbor Freight ones for the price of a LG though!

Any warranty left is VOID By hanging your ladder there!

We have the 6ft Little Giant Folding ladder. I mounted 3 aluminum closet rods front to back in my basement. The gives me a nice storage area for long items and I also hang a large car carrier basket by chains and S hooks for additional storage in the basement. The nice thing about the closet rods is that they can be removed very easily as one end is a U shape hanger.

Thanks everyone for their input. Short of buying a new ladder, I might try to rig something underneath. I do like the ideas of the LG and other types though. The custom paint job, holy smokes !!

I have used Little Giant ladders for years. Very strong and light. Extruded aluminum. Very compact but extends to over 20'. Not cheap but perfect for RW. You only need one good one. Very safe. It will support you on only three legs.

Why would it void the warranty? I have mine hung just like it using a bike rack from Camping World. My ladder weighs about 10 - 15 pounds. Surely the ladders are meant to hold more than that. But, it really doesn't matter to us as we bought ours used and didn't have a warranty from the get go. I still don't understand that philosophy. If I by a used car that is 3 months old, it still has a factory warranty. But not campers. Even the appliance warranties go void. But that's another thread.

I have the same question as homeguy. What part would it void? Same with bikes?

I've had one of these for 12 years. And it still works great. Have used it around the house and in the camper. I know it is only 7' but for me that was enough.
7' Double-Sided Rung Ladder - GP Logistics SLD-D7 - Ladders - Camping World
To store it I installed a 6" PVC pipe with screwed end caps under the unit. That way I could access it from either side.

Looked at that ladder, but I exceeded the weight limit by about 50-60 lbs.
I don't know why it would VOID the warranty, that's just what they told me about the RW & our previous SOB, "anything hung on the ladder Will void the warranty", probably just another reason to get out of it.

Oddly enough I just saw a 5er parked getting fuel & he had an extension ladder & a step ladder under his right behind the rear wheels, didn't stop to investigate, but it looked good.

It would not void the trailer warrenty only the ladder. And by the way how would they know if you hung a ladder on the ladder unless you tell them
