Inverter to RV shore power

I have a 1000 watt inverter hooked to two deep cycle 12v batteries. I have a single extension cord to a chest freezer to run while driving. My question is: When we are parked for the evening, say in a Wal-Mart lot, if I run an extension cord outside to the shore power that will let us run our TV/satelite for a few hours, will I have a problem since the inverter power would also be back feeding the CONVERTER.

If I understand correctly, it shouldn't pose a problem. Your shore power will go to the converter, then to the batteries and then to the inverter ending at the freezer.

I will not be hooked to shore power as in a 120-30-50amp post, but direct from the inverter to the power receptical at the rear of the 5th wheel.

Are the batteries installed into the Coach and part of the 12 V system? In other words, are they charged by the converter and used in the Coach as the 12 V power source?

You can do it, BUT turn off the Breaker to the Converter, other wise you'll have a loop with the Inverter making 115 VAC and the Converter trying to take that 115 VAC and convert it back to 12 VDC, not a good situation.

Exactly Michelle.....I've seen people do this and by leaving the AC breaker to converter on, a charge/drain loop is created and this will KILL the batteries. As Michelle said, just remember to turn off the converter AC breaker IF the batteries are part of your Coach system i.e. being charged by the converter

I can usually make it overnite Sam Walton rv parking by tripping the breaker to the power convertor, flipping the fridge to gas, and making sure the hot water is not on ac power. I can do this with a 1000W Power inverter hooked to an 8D agm battery.
