HELP, need that wall anchor tool!

A while back someone posted a gun-like tool that is useful to put wall anchors in for mounting things to the Luan. I have searched the forum and can't find it! Anyone know what I am talking about? Regular plastic mollys don't work on this thin stuff... Thanks so much! ~Theresa

Thanks JB2. We were at HD for over an hour looking at all the mollys and most of them had too much shank on them. That luan is so thin. Have you used that particular molly in just the luan and it held? It does look like it might have a short shank on it. The tool I am remember looked like some kind of rivet gun. I wish I could find it! Thanks again.

In m y haste i posted the picture of the tool, but the molly's you need for the 1/8" luan in the rig are what I called hollow door molloy's. A hollow core door is the same make up as the walls in the RW and they worked great. If I find the site we got them from or a picture I'll post it.

PERFECT. Surely they have these at a hardware store. Sure didn't see anything like this at Home Depot, but maybe they are in a different location. Surprising to think they don't have them. Thanks again.

TNT, I don't.know what you are mounting/hanging, but we have very good luck using 3m Command strips. We've had items hanging for 2 years now & not fallen off the walls, easy to use & remove, no holes in the walls. Also when I hang someting using them I figure if 1 will hold it I use 3-4 as they are fairly cheap.

Also no tools to buy except a plastic putty knife to remove the item. Be sure to clean both surfaces with alcohol before sticking.

Thanks Danny and Linda! Yes, I agree, I love the 3M products. We use them a lot. This particular item is a knife rack and it will need to be anchored. I think it grabbing the knives off of it all the time warrants the dreaded holes in the wall. Luckily, they are just little holes and we could fill them if we wanted to. I think the 3M stickies are THE BOMB!
