As a rule I'm still happy with the Redwood Brand. I have had some issues but they all have been met with understanding and a helpful attitude from the factory. With that said, there are little things that cause me to scratch my head like the grease zerks falling out and others not accepting grease, door stops missing and leaking showers.

This company has so far been more understanding and quicker to help than any RV company I've ever worked with. I think it's a shame the RV industry is in such disarray and they all use the same suppliers that aren't forced to improve their quality. For example...the RV lock company did get my locks working but I shouldn't have had to go through the frustrations to begin with.

It's a shame.....last month I bought my RV without the same confidence I had when I bout my new truck. Yet the truck didn't cost as much. The RV industry as a whole needs to hold themselves to a higher standard

Dave your right. They are selling mobile real estate. A great percentage of us will be living full time in our purchases. We live half a year in our coach now. The quality of the Redwood attracted us to buy ahead of time and we went for that aspect as many of us did. One step above the rest seems to be the ony thing we have to look forward too. Leaky showers is an easy fix when addressed in the build cycle. Same for the lighting that use cheap recepticles for the bulbs. ie the hanging lights over the island. When we first started looking at the Redwood our dealer had two vehicles with lights burned out?!@#%!? Whats up with that? We like you Dave, are still hoping for the bestour coach will be here next month. Whew!

I think maybe everyone is forgetting one thing here and that is an RV is a recreational vehicle and that being said is why the industry does not hold themselves to higher standard. the auto industry is held to higher standard because everyone that purchases a car or truck must rely on that vehicle every day but as a general rule the majority of RV owners use them for recreation not as a place to live, but when Redwood advertises there trailers as a residential styleliving trailer the implied higher standard does exist.
I feel that if we keep them abreast to what is happing to our units they will continue to learn from us and the quality and standard for them will keep rising.
Just remember we are the guinea pigs here whether we like it or not because we chose to purchase when we did. So keep this in mind if it wasn't us as a understanding group of owners it would be some other group of owners going through the same things.
I personally am ecstatic that we chose to purchase when we did because I feel as though we are on the ground floor with the company and I will do everything possible to help them succeed.

We all stand behind you in your ideals. I hope they are in tuned to our problems. This vehicle will probably be our last and will be passed on to the nexty generation of buyers.
Don't even have my vehicle yet and I sound like and an old timer. Ha Ha!

Does this mean he is expecting to be on the receiving end of something? From who? I HOPE NOT A MEMBER OF THE FORUM. That implacation would be uncalled for.

Yes, it's important to send your list of issues that you're working throughto Brian Emmons and it's important to include your VIN # when you do. Hopefully, they are recognizing patterns and identifying workers who need further training or separation from Redwood. Brian told me they are tracking these defects by VIN#.

Even though it's a substantial amount of work, I've documented most of the long list of defects in order to help them make the product better. I've recieved emails from Brian thanking me on the issues I've involved him on. I hope with their 1,000 unit milestone, the higher ups will start changing the focustoward qualityand not just units produced. We'll see. They definitely need our help going forward.

Either I am not as picky as some of the members or I'm one of the many luckymembers to not have any problems to speak of. the problems that I did have were not Redwoods problems they were the suppliers problems.

  1. Have you produced a document that could be shared with all owners
... particularly those waiting or just received delivery? I envision a
nice checklist that could be used to run through everything that should
be checked out upon delivery! Create in Word, publish as PDF and share
    a link on this forum.
  2. All technical issues such as grease fittings ... how many,
location, type of grease ... we need a PDF document that clearly shows
all this great info! Same for all other maintenance items, manuals
etc. Can a library section be established on this forum to gather all
    this type of documentation?

At the risk of continuing an "off topic" thread, the problem we have is that the architecture of this forum is limited by the design and capacity of thesoftware that Redwood purchased originally. Add to that the fact that no one is taking an active role in managing this forum and none of the users are authorized to do so (witness the disorganized topics, number of dormant users, active SPAMMING accounts, etc.) No one approachable has the authority to create a "Library" heading.

Occasionally, Redwood Marketing will respond with a quick comment. Beyond that, Redwood has not shown any interest and is not known to be monitoring this forum for suggestions or useful information (although there is a lot.)

Your comment about technical issues such as "grease fittings"are more appropriatelyfound in a hardcopy or .pdf based"Owner's Manualor "Technical Manual"which would provide an index for technical, maintenance and troubleshooting topics - things an owner really needs to know. Nothing has been forthcoming from Redwood, but is sorely needed. That's why currently, to get important information, we have a somewhat random, "index-less," people helping people type of approach.Members have created and recreated several popular topicsbecause it's seems easier to start a new topic than findingthe informationneeded by bumping into it while reading an unrelated topic. How else would a topic like "Grease Zerks" run on for 6+ pages?

These are only my observations and opinion, of course.

Yep, and most of those 6 pages have nothing to do with Grease Zerks. Don't get me wrong, I'm just a guilty as anyone else, so until Redwood takes a more active roll, it's up to us the user/members to police ourselves.

Nope, Presently in a holding pattern awaiting the arrival of a new Wet Bolt Kit from Lippert. Not sure when it will arrive and when I can get to it. We're off tomorrow to Cambridge Ontario for a Cat Show, next weekend is a GoodSam Campout with our Chapter and the following week is the Montana Northeast Rally in Lancaster, PA. Yea, I checked and they said we could come even tho we're now SOBs since we signed up before we even thought of buying the Redwood.

Your coach looks great. We have a 36FL with most of the "fixins" minus generator and washer/dryer. How do you like the awning on the slidout?
Thanks
John

John, so far we haven't really had a chance to use the awningsmuch. We got it mainly for our Winters in Fort Pierce as our site gets the late afternoon sun and the second awning should help keep the Living Room cooler. This grease zerk issue is the only thing that bothers me, that and the extremely poor job Lazy Days did in preping our unit, I think they rushed things so they could still get the sale for the month of April. They didn't flush the fresh water system very well as we were still getting RV antifreeze and their Satellite Tech was too lazy or something to contact Redwood to locate the control cable (had the factory install all four cables) so he just ran it the full length of the unit on the roof and punched a hole into the bedroom cabinet.

Hi Michelle,

Justwanted to acknowledge your comment on the tendency to elaborate on a post that pushes the reply off topic. If we were truely policing ourselves, most of yourabove reply would be posted inthe "Are You Happy With Your Dealer" topic. Difficult, isn't it?
