Gelcoat crack

Well. It finally happened. I just inspected the coach and found the dreaded crack in the sidewall at the corner of the front slide-out, on the passenger side. The driver's side is fine. Do I recall that someone took their coach to the factory service center and they fixed both sides even though only one side had the crack? I spoke to my dealer today and they said RW would only authorize the repair on the one side and that the 2+5 year warranty would cover any further cracking.

Tom,

Redwood is aware of this problem and they should fix it. They fixed mine before I had a problem while it was at the service center for other repairs. Call the service center yourself and get them to call your dealer.

Dave...did RW also fix the side that didn't crack?

neither of mine were cracked. I just picked it up at the service center and it was fixed so I think there was a service bulletin on it.

Dave, I had mine at the Service Center after yours, and one of the things on my checklist was the possible crack that has been surfacing on some of the Redwoods. I asked the Service Center if they would install the trim piece so that I would not have to worry about it in the future. They refused and said that they would do it if it did crack, but not just as a precaution. Of course that was when Rick Drinkwine was there.

The only Redwood models that get the "Crack" fix on both sides is the FL models since they have two slides on the front.
All other models only have the bedroom slide on one side, no slide on the other side, no crack issue.
Our 2014 38FL has the "Crack" fix on both front slides.

Didn't ask for it, but it sure got done. I think they did both sides. When I get home tonight I'll verifi it.

I didn't push the issue too much at the Service Center because I'm not sure this is an issue with the 31SL. I don't think there is as much flex with the 31SL as there is with the longer Redwoods. Has anyone on here with the 31SL experienced the cracks?

I can't tell you enough how much I apreciate what you folks did for me. There's been some great people working in that shop and I never left disappointed.

I'm going to be over in that area in a few weeks and hope I can meet up with some of my old friends

Rob,
Can you please be more specific? Did you have two cracks, one crack or no cracks and how did the factory respond? Thanks.

Tom

We do not have any cracks, our 38FL has the joint / seam at the front edge of both Front Living Room slides.

Rob...sorry for being so thick headed. Did your coach come from the factory like that or did they do this at the Service Center as a preventative measure?

Our coach came like that from the factory.
It looked like that the first time I looked at it on Lazy Days lot.
