Afternoon all, this is directed at fulltimers, but anyone can chime in. The RL is listed to have a cargo capacity of 3000lbs minus options. The unit I bought should have a cargo capacity of 2300lbs. To me that is a little low. Seeing how I don't have a house or storage shed anywhere. Everything I own is with me and the wife. Would like to see cargo capacity 3000 to 3500lbs after options are added. Seeing how much storage is in the rig. I don't w? ant to add more stuff, just would feel better with that option. Has anyone looked at changing axels to 8000lbs? Or will the frame not support the extra weight I'm looking for?

I noticed if you ordered the G614s and wheels, you got an extra 500lbs on the GVRW rating. Check the VIN sticker.

If I had ordered it I would have. Lazydays where I am buying from didn't put the G rated tires on, only E rated. I'm having them swap tires to G. Even the Factory rep said G's woud be better. So I will have to check and see if that qualifies (G's) to increase GVRW. Thannks

A few years back Escapees did a survey and if remember correctly they said that the average full timer was carrying around 2500 lbs. I think I carry around 2000 lbs but I'm not full time. I do go out for extended times though so I don't travel lite.
My RL came from the factory around 13800 I believe and with the G rated tires this gives me 2700 lbs to play with. If you think you need more I'd look at the MorRyde system that would give you better suspension. I haven't heard any complaints about the frame at all on the Redwoods so I wouldn't worry about that side of the equation.

Dave I agree with the 2500lbs, give or take a few pounds. Don't really have a lot, but sometimes we carry extra water for use a we travel and I belive we are around 2300lbs of gear and stuff. I would feel better if there was some play room, so that I am not over stressing anything. Make sense?

My RL came in at 13,700lbs with the G-Rate tires. My GVWR is 16,500 leaving me 2,800 lbs of capacity.

Enroute, That would be great for me. That gives me the coushion I'm looking for. Sent a E-mail to RW regional manger I met at the Tampa show last week and I'll see what he says to. Thanks Jim

Jim, I almost ordered our RL with the 8K axles, but Brian at RW Customer Service talked me out of them. Right now we're slightly over 17K, but under 14 on the axles. We just finished upgrading to 17.5 wheels and "H" rated GY 114s and when we leave in the spring we're headed to MorRyde for an 8K IS upgrade. So that should give us some additional cap. That's a smart move getting Lazy Days to change tires and wheels (you do know the stock wheels with the "E" Marathons are not rated for the 614s) Being Full Timers, you might want to see if you could get Lazy Days to go for the 17.5s, could save you $$ and headaches down the road.

Michelle and Ann, I don't understand "stock wheels with the "E" Marathons are not rated for the 614s"? do you mean the rims? Thanks Jim

If you upgrade from Marathon tires to G614's you also must upgrade the wheels (rims). The standard wheels with Marathon tirescan't be used with the 110 lb tire pressure of the G614's.

So true....check with tire dealer the pressure is too great for the stock E rated wheels and the G rated wheels come with steel tire valves not rubber
