Hi Andy:

It's good to have a look around to see the differences in various models so you can get a good idea of what you are looking for, but I've found that doing a factory order gets you exactly what you want. I was also fortunate to be able to attend a Ford "road show" where various Ford trucks were able to be driven with competitors units available for driving for a comparison.

Perhaps after the launch of the new F-150s occur Ford will be back to offering better incentives, I understand that they backed off to ensure that stock would remain at the dealers during the extended plant change over period. I found I got good pricing during the summer "employee pricing" events here in Canada, the incentives brought the pricing even lower.

Can you purchase a vehicle down south and register it in Canada? Seems that would be of the greatest advantage to you financially if you could do that.

We can purchase used vehicles in the U.S. and it is a fairly easy process to import and register them in Canada. However, a few years ago the manufacturers advised the dealers not to sell to Canadians, as many were crossing the border to buy vehicles many thousands cheaper than at home.

That's a rotten Deal Andy. What if you were traveling and broke down beyond repair? There has to be some way around it.

I looked at a boat (Cobalt) once and they won't even sell to another Dealers district!

Brad - I might check out some of the Southern States, as it was the States adjacent to the border that most Canadians were heading to purchase new vehicles cheaper.

Failing that we can purchase a used vehicle without any problem.
