Well, after looking at the pictures I took of the electric cord reel at the factory (zoomed in a little) I see that Redwood used nuts and bolts through the frame to attach the power electric cord reel, not self-tapping Tech screws as we thought. The other thing I noticed is that it's a "Shoreline" brand reel, model # CL50D02L. So, it should be VERY easy to do this add on...

1. Shoreline CL50D02L
2. JR Products ZH152-A Access Door (that's the same panel Redwood uses)
3. JR Products 13765 Single Switch to operate the reel.

Should be about $525 for all the items. I just may do it!!!!!

You folks that have had this awhile, how filthy does it get from road water, dirt, etc. I would think it would get wheel spray from the tires, if in fact it is not in a "box" and just mounted to the frame?

Jim, looking at the design, it looks like it would be fairly simple to extend the bottom material they use, from the frame over to the side of the coach...That would basically "box" it in, or at least put a bottom on the reel to keep most of the road grime out

You could get a tin basher to fabricate one that you could install over it once it is installed

We have the factory reel, and it is in a box, this keeps the crap off it. Just have to lead the cord onto the reel and keep the turns snug to fit all the cord on.

Must be I didn't see the "finished product" because the last unit I looked at didn't have anything around it.....Makes sense though, otherwise, like Jim said it would fill up with water and road grime, etc

here is the finished product from the Factory. You can see from the pics its deflecting a lot of road grime, and this was the polished one in the RV show

First picture is looking from the back (street side), send is looking from the front.

That looks about par, they sealed the back with the black foam & left all those big gaps open in front where all the crap can get in.
