Drive Through San Antonio

I have never pulled my RV through San Antonio east bound. I will arrive San Antonio via I10 heading toward Houston. Should I take I1604 until it intersects I10 east bound? Or, Stay on I10 through downtown until it intersects 90/I10? The I 1604 route appears to be a shorter route. However, when looking at Google Maps I 1604 looks like it changes from being interstate around Randolph AFB all the way to I10.

Thanks in advance for your help.

My wife lived in San Antonio for a while, she says 1604!

We were going to take the 1604 route. Right before getting to 1604 traffic was light and we decided to try staying on i10. To our surprise i10 had very little traffic, no construction n town and was well marked . Next trip we will try 1604 now that we have the I10 route to compare it to.

Thanks to everyone who provided input.

Don’t take 1604, just stay on i10, however it does get a little tricky. When you are getting close, to downtown, I -10 changes lanes 3-4 times, I would have your Google maps active and they will let you know when the lane change is coming up. I would travel mid day or weekends, business traffic will make it more stressful.
