Dishwasher

How many actually use their dishwasher, and how well does it clean your dishes?

It is AWESOME! Far better than I ever expected - true residential quality - it's quiet, handles a reasonable load, and cleans quite well.

Dishwasher

Works fantastic! Absolutely no problems. Get dishes extremely clean. So much so it even faded my favorite Willie Nelson coffee cup!

What model dishwasher is it? Fisher-Paykel?

I installed the Fisher&Paykel model DD24SCB7 with the black front in our '12 36rl. Wife absolutely loves it. Fantastic job of doing the dishes. Extremely quiet. Holds a 7 place setting of dishes. Uses 1.8 to 2.2 gallons of water to wash and the same amount to rinse based on your wash setting. Redwood did a great job of prepping the island for the dishwasher. A 110v recep was to the right of our sink. Hole and grommet were made for the water line and 110v cord thru the shelf. And the drain spout was in place and capped off ready to be used. Had to remove cabinet doors. Remove the spice rack to be able to access the drain spout. Had to purchase a 1/2" female pipe thread to 3/8" male compression fitting for the water line, but water line was there, capped off with its own 1/4 turn valve. Not much room between kitchen slide out and island, but installed just fine. Hard part was getting the smaller cabinet doors to go between counter top and the dishwasher. Redwood helped me with that as they are 45 minutes from our house. Our future home on wheels will have the dishwasher also. Wouldn't be without it now.

When we first looked at the Redwood, we didn't think that much about the dishwasher, but now that we have it, we love it. As others have said, it is quiet and does a great job cleaning.

We love our dishwasher. It does a better job than the Maytag we had in our home. I was so surprised at how quiet it is also. No problem watching a movie while the dishwasher is working away.

It's kind of interesting in that when we were looking at buying our RW, my wife says to me "why do we need a dishwasher in an RV?" Well, she uses it all the time! As others have stated, it is quiet and does a great job.

I guess we're the odd ones, we take turns doing the dishes. Works for us anyway.

Yeppers.

I'll be honest - we were down to 3 RVs. When the salesman opened the dishwasher to show Dory, we were down to 1 RV. Nothing else mattered after that.

It was always a joke with us - next one would have a dishwasher - we didn't know anyone had them but surprise, surprise. Now our joke is the next one will have a garbage disposal . I think the Res fridge will fall in there somewhere too - not available when we were looking.

I totally understand about the dishwasher selling the rig. We have had our DRV Select Suites for 3 years now and just a couple of months ago had a Fisher Paykel dishwasher and a Samsung french door residential refrigerator installed. The wife has fallen in love with the rig all over again.

Sigh.........it appears that it will be at least another couple of years before we trade rigs. I will keep coming to this site and reading up on Redwoods. I do believe that a Redwood is in our future.

We've been in AZ since mid October and have been using the dishwasher nearly every day. Don't have water softener installed, so we have been adding 1/4 cup white vinegar during start of rinse and dishes are now coming out spotless. Looks like Fisher/Paykel recommends powder detergent rather than the liquid or tablets. Took us awhile but think it's working great.

We are with ya, we do not have the dishwasher either, enjoy the extra space under the sink.

Jim,
Did you try adding Jet Dry to the spot free dispenser?

We used ours every day that we had our unit out. Worked great. Quiet, efficient, clean. Better than what we have in our S&B.

We used it going back to the rally with no problems, but seems the water here in AZ is prone to making the dishes film over, even with jet dry. My sister in law who has lived here for many years told me about the vinegar, and seems to work well. Only problem is you need to stop it to open the door at the start of the rinse cycle (towards the end of the run time) to add the vinegar.

We love our dishwasher as well... only PITA is during winterizing. The dishwasher is very sensitive to line voltage. Would not cycle to infuse antifreeze while on the generator. Had to haul it back to the house to complete the job. Will try putting more load on the genny next Fall to see if that helps... in the driveway just in case
