OK, after backing the rig into three different locations so far, it has become obvious that we need more than hand signals or a cell phone on "speaker". When running larger boats, I usually had a crewperson wearing a headset that was "handsfree" and you just talked to each other like a telephone. Would like to find the same kind of wireless headset combo for use between Tracy and I when maneuvering the coach.

Only ones I've found so far are the high side of $350.00 for a pair. Was wondering if any of you have something you use and like.

My new truck (and many others) has Bluetooth. Maybe we only need a headset for the "spotter". That should reduce the price somewhat.

Before switching to Motorolas we used ICOM VHF/UHF portable radios with extension microphone/receivers that plug into the radio. They require to be keyed for Tx but not Rx, so in Rx mode they are hands free. The base models used to be about $100. A number of marine chandlers probably stock them.

They worked well for line of sight coms.

Good thought. Most of our F Super Duty's do too. Hadn't thought along those lines. My son is the electronics Guru, think I'll turn him loose on finding something.

We use the I can see you method. If I can see Lois and she is not jumping up and down, I keep backing up. If I can't see her I stop. Works well

We use the FRS band portable radios. Work good for us and are inexpensive.

Sam drives so when she backs up I rarely say anything, I just cover the blind spot, she watches me in the mirror and good old Army hand signals do the rest. She hasn't hit anything so far!!!!!

If you have smartphones, there is an app called HEYTELL which works like a 2 way radio. As long as you have cell service it will work.

Well John. I guess the good old fashion method does work stop moving and go look methedrine works. Many years of spotting and response no need for radios and stuff. Still fun.

We bought a pair of radios this summer but have not used them yet. We found the best way to park the unit was to walk the site together to decide where to put it, checking for tree overhangs and services. My wife stands where she wants the back corner on whatever side is visible in the mirror and then I back up to her. Big thing we learned was to have someone on the "blind" side when pulling out to ensure the swing does not hit anything... I got a nice crease on the last 10 feet of our coach our first trip out last summer when I "rubbed" the water connection when leaving a site.
