Has anyone purchased a Coast to Coast membership and could you tell me more about this club?

Rooksfive.....I'm not sure about them but one of their sister or partner companies (Ocean Canyon Properties) has almost shafted us out of $5520......We went on a 4 day trip to Lake Tehoma Resort where Ocean Canyon's Sales Manager (Smooth talkin self proclaimed honest person). He kept running the paperwork in circles reminding us to read every word then interupting us ever 5 minutes telling us he was proud of us because we were reading everything...It was supposed to be a 90 minute presentation that ran into almost 4 hours and when we ask to stop for a refreshment he said he would get us water that is all they had and then it took another 30 minutes to get it...My wife got a headache from lack of nurishdment...Then when it got down to price we decided on a trial 5 year offer that turned out to be only 5 with Ocean Canyon and 1 with 3 other rv clubs not 5 as he had verbalized...Then when it came time for payment he wanted us to use a Coast to Coast Visa...We told him no we had plenty of means totake care of the payment ....Then he offered 6 months on a company installement plan 0% interest and at the end of 6 months pay off anyway we wanted...Then came all the B.S. He actually applied for a Coast to Coast Visa Credit card which we had told him no to more than once..When we got th card in the mail we called and cancelled it immidiately and they told us it was cancelled but we still owed the money...The paperwork he had given us said Membership agreement not credit card app....We are about to settle with the help of the BBB and his ignorant emails requesting signatures on 2 more documents he had failed to have us sign at our meeting....I know this a lot to take in but it is only to get you to, as military people say "cover your 6 meaning watch your back". Do yourself a favor don't sign anything you haven't read all of and tell the person to shut up when you are trying to read....I guarantee you have of what the salesperson tells you will be a total lie and if you do sign with them be sure you geat a copy of everything front and back as we walked off with out 6 o7 pertinent pages luck for us he forgot to sign half of our copies and we believe he fraudulently signed a loan paper ....But it looks like we have gotten this mess straightened out....Anyway read read read and don't be afraid to ask questions or challenge his verbal statements compared to the written...Please don't let them interrupt you while reading..That ould be a big mistake

Might see if you can get them to send as much information as possible so you can study it before actually sitting down and READING it with them...They may be ok but OCP is definitely dirty

I think they're very similar to Time Shares, once they get you hooked, they reel you in and you're stuck for life. Why not look into PassPort America? Or are you looking at some specific places?

You can join Passport America for less than 40 bucks on the GoodSam site. They offer CGs for 1/2 price, but of course there are restrictions, some it's the lenght of stay, some are not good for weekends, you just have to check first if it will work for you. Go to their web site and you can see where CGs are located. We generally use them when on the road, makes for a more reasonable overnite stop. You can join for a year and if it doesn't work you're not out much. If you only use them several times you generally recoup your money.

To belong to Coast to Coast you have to have a membership in a campground that is part of their network. It is a reciprical network that if your campground is in the system, thqn you can stay at other membership campgrounds in the network. When we had a house and were working, we had a campground membership in Cutty'sof Okibogi Iowa and belonged to Coast to Coast. At the time I think we got our money"s worth by using the Coast to Coast system on vacations. After the kids grew up and we retired, it didn't fit into our lifestyle and we dropped our membership. A lot of the campgrounds are out of the mainstream of travel. It is something that works for some people, but not for everyone. Usually you get the Coast to Coast pitch when somebody is trying to sell you a campground membership.A person has to think it over carefully before jumping in.

All,

We have been travelling in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia for the past 2 weeks. The GPS calls out Passport America as well as other sites while on the road. We are now Good Sam's members and stayed at 2 while away this trip. Will be looking into Passport America when we get back home. May be worth trying when we spend more time in the US travelling.
