TT...I can relate. I worked for a plumber in my younger days. A "gumby" body build sure would have been helpful!

Yep, they look and work great all summer, then I have to replace them for the next summer

I have no complaints about installing a different brand, but the surface faucet arrangement is different than residential. I haven't figured how to overcome that yet.

The faucets on my 2012 still look new. Maybe it is something in the water.

The RV shower faucet mounts on the surface with the shower hose attached. I haven't found a residential one that does that, at least in the cheap home depot versions. They are all set back in the tile.

I see...I was thinking about the kitchen faucet. Home Depot or Lowe's will not stock a good quality two-handle shower faucet. They just don't have a high enough demand to justify stocking them (I worked at Lowe's for 12 years). However, Lowe's or Home Depot should be able to Special Order one. The cost will be a lot higher than the variety they stock...but the quality will also be a lot higher. It would probably be the last replacement you would ever need.

I need to take some time to look up the spread on the holes to make sure what I order will actually fit in the existing holes in the enclosure.

I wish the Expo Design Center was still in our area, as they were the premium store for Home Depot and you could find stuff Home Depot did not carry, but you could order it through Home Depot for less. Always nice to see stuff in hand.

You know....... this has me thinking. Residential fixtures aren't THAT HEAVY & certainly are better quality than the cheap cr@p used in the RV industry. Why can't these (residential fixtures) be used in the first place ? So what's it going to cost???? ....... a few bucks more initially but savings for the RV manufacturer & customer in the long run.

I haven't priced a replacement, but the durafaucet head, hose, valve and rod is ~$180 according to their website for brushed nickel.

Wow! Gotta have a heafty markup on that. It might difficult to find a replacement though...ours is on 4" centers. That distance is usually used for bathroom faucets (not the widespread).

However people feel about Durafaucet, I found a leak in the flexible pullout hose on our kitchen faucet. After one phone call to Durafaucet customer service, they agreed to send me a replacement flexible pullout hose at no cost to me, and free shipping. That's customer service. I fixed our leak for just the cost of becoming contortion man (to replace it under the sink). We have the dishwasher installed, so there is not much room to maneuver.

We haven't had a problem with the Dura faucets losing its finish, but rather had the kitchen hose faucet/ pull out sprayer quit going into stream mode after shutting the water off. Kept staying at about 90% spray/ 10% stream. Removed sprayer end. Cleaned and soaked entire aerator and sprayer in CLR and vinegar. Barely helped. Wrote to Dura by email. Explained situation. They wanted pictures showing faucet with the name brand on it saying it should be covered under warranty. Snapped a few pics, forwarded by email and bingo, within a week a entire new head arrived in the mail. Works perfectly now. That is also great customer service. Thanks again to Dura!! DW is happy it works like it should.

Like I said, Durafaucet sends out replacement parts for the asking! BUT....they send the same defective ones. I'm on my third set that are peeling the finish and only one more in stock.

Most any residential faucet of a good brand will offer a cover plate in the same finish. Most likely larger since RV's are smaller. Drill new holes in the top and use the cover plate and your done. If you don't like that idea, Find another sink or stove cover to match your top and fabricate a hole cover.

Steve

OPPS!!! I thought you were talking about the sinks.

Not that it is the nicest looking plate but they do make a larger remodel / repair blank cover that will completely cover your holes and then you drill the plate to the new faucet. We usually use them over ceramic tile that has failed but would also work in this application if needed.

Not sure how the showers are plumbed, but since they are on 4" centers, a person may be able to replace the current faucet with a single handle unit. You would have to use a hole saw to drill out for the new faucet, and run a separate line from the valve to the top of the shower for a shower arm and head or handheld shower unit. However, like I stated, I haven't looked at how the current shower faucet is plumbed.

We have only had our RW a little over a year now but we have fulltimed in it since day one.
"Knock on Wood" our kitchen, lavatory and shower fixtures have all worked great and the finish has held up great to weekly cleanings.
Since we typically clean the shower, and lavatory at least weekly and the kitchen sink more frequently we have cleaned them at least 60 times.
The only thing we removed was the goofy soap dish in the shower, seemed to be in the way all the time, bought the 3M command strip Soap Dish and a larger holder for shampoo and such, they work great and are easy to clean.

I noticed even Durafaucet got rid of the brushed nickel soap dish and when to a clear plastic. I have one of those is stock as well.

As far as the plumbing - its a pretty simple system in the back. I just don't know the spacing on the valve. I'll have to check it in a couple of weeks, may end up having to use a trim backing like Steve suggested.
